    Re: Patsy Gallant Disco Album

From what I've seen lately, she appeared in TV shows and she was involved in the local movie scene. To the best of my knowledge, she hasn't made any other Disco recording ever since.

She participated in a concert a few days ago (see below).

    Re: Patsy Gallant Disco Album

As a huge PATSY fan for years ; I bought my first Patsy 7in back in 1971...at the tender age of 7 !!

I was at DIVERS CITE last week and saw her perform and all I can say is WOW !!!

Her voice hasn't changed and I was standing just a few feet from her as she sang.

She has been involved with disco for years.

The ARE YOU READY FOR LOVE with SUGAR DADDY was her first disco themed album but only a few tracks were in fact dance music.

Her best disco album is her 1978 french release called PATSY GALLANT & STAR.With disco tracks like LAISSE MOI REVER [LET ME FREE YOUR LOVE],DIS MOI [Funky Fender rhodes led danceable pop],CA VA TRES BIEN [SLOW DOWN],a disco version of NEW YORK,NEW YORK in french, the horn-led C'EST LA VIE,C'EST LA VIE [very good dance-pop],MICHEL [O MICHEL] great great disco tune,C'EST L'AMOUR [funkier dance pop],AIME-MOI [STAY A WHILE] and the Hi-NRG closer TU PEUX ME DIRE ADIEU.

A few of the tracks appeared in english on her follow-up album PATSY but not all the tracks were translated...It was a great collection but not as dance-oriented.

In 1979 she released a very good 12in called IT'S GOT TO BE YOU [120bpm] - 8 minutes of explosive dance music.Never surfaced on an album until 2005 when a single-length mix was included on TOUT VA TROP VITE [her latest compilation] which also included a 9 minutes re-recording of SUGAR DADDY [single & club mix].

But her 1984 album TAKE ANOTHER LOOK is by far her triumphant return to dance/HiNRG/Techno-pop.

Including HIT THE STREET TONIGHT [a 12inch remixed version also surfaced],the techno-tinged HI TECH GIRL,hi-nrg DON'T STOP LOVING ME,rockier TAKE ANOTHER LOOK,dance pop CRAZY/CRAZY [a single hit in Quebec],pop rock HEARTBREAKER [with b/vox by her then husband Dwayne Ford] and BETTER FACE IT GIRL [dance beat-ballad].Plus a few very good ballads thrown in.I just ordered all the PATSY CDs to replace my vinyl versions.

And in 2004 she was cast in a new rock-opera called CINDY [CINDERELLA 2000] where she portrayed a faded disco queen called LA PALMA.She had a great dance track on the cast album ; DISCO QUEEN D'UN SOIR [Disco Queen for a night].

    Hope this helps...

    Re: Patsy Gallant Disco Album

On WILL YOU GIVE ME YOUR LOVE

    -EVERY STEP OF THE WAY
-SOMEDAY I'LL WAKE UP AND YOU'LL BE GONE
-LISTEN TO YOUR DJ [with a little rock thrown in]
-YOUR SWEET SWEET LOVIN' [funky danceable pop]
-BACK TO THE CITY [was the b-side of SUGAR DADDY 12in - pop/dance]
-STAY A WHILE WITH ME [sounding like ARE YOU READY FOR LOVE]

    On BESOIN D'AMOUR

-LIBRE POUR L'AMOUR [french version of ARE YOU READY FOR LOVE]
-BESOIN D'AMOUR [huge disco single - never translated]
-SUGAR DADDY [french version -single length]
-MON PAYS [original french version of FROM N.Y. TO L.A.]

the MON PAYS single was VERY controversial because it was originally a song by patriotic Quebecer singer/songwriter GILLES VIGNAULT.Not only was he not pleased to have a disco version of one of his song but later almost had a coronary when it was translated in English !!! I guess the royalty checks eased the pain !!!!

I also forgot to mention her 1980 album STRANGER IN THE MIRROR [RCA].It was recorded in Japan and was mostly ballads except for 2 dance tracks [among my favorites]

YOU'RE THE ONE and I GAVE YOU MY ALL.

    Re: Patsy Gallant Disco Album

She is in fact a remarkable-complete artist.

She's always been "grounded", in contact with the reality and her fans.

She could have had a much broader diffusion but I have yet to find if it's because of her manager who had conservative objectives or Patsy simply wanted to stay away from a worldwide success (a opposed to Celine Dion's career per example).

    Re: Patsy Gallant Disco Album

My sister also used to work with one of her best friends.

Patsy's contract for her CTV weekly show did not get renewed because of demands that were not met.
CTV wanted to renew the show but Ian Robertson [Patsy's manager/boyfriend at the time] asked for more Patsy and less guests.
I don't know if you ever watched the PATSY GALLANT SHOW but Patsy was featured in the opening number, the first song, then the guest came on,then Patsy joined the guest, then she'd perform the closing number.

I always found it funny that they asked for more airtime but...

Ever since her return from Paris , she has been seen a lot on TV and she's just finished a stint in a revival of NINE.The play is going on tour this fall.

And she has been involved in the Montreal Gay Pride festival ever since her return 3 years ago.
Her new manager is quite young and has new ideas and wants to get her out there.

Last season she would pop up a lot on TV ; performing with her son or being part of "disco" themed shows.
