It Looks Like Love by Goody Goody - Popular Back In The Day?

What was the feeling towards It Looks Like Love by Goody Goody when it was first released? Did people view it as a Vince Montana attempt at imitating Chic, a la Dance Dance Dance? Or was it viewed as a daring striped down groove with interesting percussion fades? Just from checking out Montana's discography, it was clear he liked it, because he resurrected it a few times later on in the 80s and 90s. I guess it's his second favorite groove after the Love Is The Message bass riff.

I can't get enough of the track. The one regret I have about it, though, is that the hand clap section is so brief. If he had kept the claps going longer (perhaps to the end of the song), it would have been more than perfect!

Disco-I remember hearing "#1 DJ" much more than this track, but that could be a southern California thing. When
I did hear it out,I would ask my friend who it was cause
it sounded so different(I missed the whole Chic comparison at the time)But I really didn't appreciate
it fully until the last 5 years where it's had a huge revival
and rightfully so-it's sophisticated disco that sounds fresh
    and not dated.

Yeah, it's a crazy track. I mean, it's not sophisticated in that it's got a whole lot of stuff going on, or a lot of tricky chord changes. But the way the instruments come in and out (slowly fades in and out rather than cutting on the downbeats) is really cool. The lack of interest in it back in the day might explain why the 12" is less common than the #1 DeeJay 12".

    Renegade disco! :)

That record didn't do a damn thing BITD. Indeed "N°1 DJ" was the hot track here. However I discovered it only a few years back and immediately liked it.

Here's an interesting article on the band!
