    Being eclectic

    I spinned:

Caravelli: LOVE TO LOVE YOU BABY – a debonair version from France with extra slippery strings. Why is it covers like this can sound so good when turned up real loud?
Percy Faith:ENTER THE DRAGON: – The definitive dance reworking of the Lalo Schifrin classic of cool, off 1973 album ”Corazon”. The arrangement is tight, the rhythm hot, the bongos go and the strings ice cold. Instant party.
Marvin Gaye: A FUNKY SPACE REINCARNATION – you get the picture
Cata Stevens: WAS DOG A DOUGHNUT? – b-boy anthem improves with bits of ”Salsa Smurf” by Special Request mixed in for extra barks
Pleasure: GHETTOS OF THE MIND – watch them nod their heads in unison
The Steve Miller Band: SPACE INTRO – Garage fave
Gabi Idos: BARRIO – 2002 re-edit of an obscure mid-70s bass and bongos rhythm track
    Charanson: DESCHARGA – Afrocubano disco-house
Los Locos: BIEN CHEVERE– more of the same
M.I.Q: CENTRAL PARK – early 70s percussion jam
Alain Couraquer: PROMENADES AU BOIS – likewise, with a stop and go structure Tuset Street: DADDY COOL – 1977 Spanish version improves the guitar riff
Barry Gray: BLACK SUN – moody throbbing instrumental
Lemon: CHANGE TO DANCE – timeless hothouse boogie
Steve Winwood – NIGHT TRAIN – again, big at the Garage
Pina Magri – YOU SWEAT ME AWAY – don’t know much about this, off a recent compliation of cool cuts so apparently has a following
Tony Valor Sounds Orchestra: MA-MO-AH – driving instrumental works best off the album, without the annoying bleeps heard on the 12” remix

While I know and love some of the tunes in your list I was surprised to see the above. It's "moddy" as you say and I love playing it. It's also a very early single sided RCA 12" single which is highly collectible.

Amazing! Jussi puts out a list and I actually recognize more than five artists  . Eclectic, eh? Cat Stevens? Percy Faith? I don't know about you, guy, but if it wasn't working I guess you wouldn't be doing it. :)

Remind me --- what label is Tony Valor's MA-MO-AH? I know I don't have the album, maybe I can find the 12".

Also, what is all this '&#8211'? What does that mean?

    Nicky,

It's on Brunswick and a great quirky song.

I can't figure it out, sometimes this kind of number code appears in my texts...could it be it has something to do with...gulp...the phenomenon first documented in the unsettling Japanese film RINGU and then in the American remake THE RING...?! :o
