"i wanna funk with you tonight" by giorgio moroder

Does anyone know who the girl in the background is moaning and groaning. This song from 1976 is off the "Knights In White Satin" album. She is quite lusty. Who is she?

OMG, Billy! The track is originally recorded by the Munich Machine who mainly consisted of Hansjoerg Moroder (AKA Giorgio Moroder AKA Einzelgänger) and the late Jürgen Koppers.

    The Munich Machine members were:
Giorgio Moroder(production), Pete Bellotte (production), Keith Forsey (drums), Les Hurdle (bass), Gary Unwin (bass), Günter Moll (bass, guitars), Thor Baldursson (keyboards), Geoff Bastow (keyboards), Mats Björklund (guitars), Dan Wyman (synthesizers), Stephan Wisnet (synthesizers), Dino Solera, Elmar Lewis, Bobby Stern, Cap Etienne, Lee Harper (brass), Frank Dietz, Madeline Bell (vocals), Sunny Leslie (vocals), Sue Glover (vocals), Joanne Williams (vocals), Gitta Walther (vocals), Lucy O'Neale (vocals), Claudia Schwarz (vocals), Chris Bennett (lead vocals, 1978), Yolande Howard (lead vocals, 1979), Judith Jones (lead vocals, 1979)

Who of them did the moaning? I don't know :icon_lol:

For some reason, I never thought of the grunts as being female-produced. I always assumed they were Giorgio himself, as they sound like his voice in a higher pitch, rather than any of the chorus girls. Listen to the sounds heard around 4:47 to 4:51, and to a farther extent 5:02 to 5:05. Those next to last seem male to me. The last grunts, during the fade-out, do sound more typically female, however.
Oh, I don't know!!! Maybe a mix of both???

If the male theory proved wrong, I could picture Chris Bennett as the moaner, as they apparently had a thing going on around that time.

On my pressing of the album Knights in White Satin (Atlantic, 1976, France), the B side has four songs: the usual three and, just before «I Wanna Funk with you tonight», a fourth one, uncredited on the sleeve. Its length is 3:50 and it's very similar to «I Wanna Funk with you tonight»: same instrumental track, a raspy male voice, female background vocalists repeating «Bad bad love is on our side»... A hidden track in 1976? Anyone knows this song? Its title? Its genesis? All pressings have it?
    Thanks for any information.

That's weird!! I have both the US pressing on Oasis OCLP5006, and the French on Atlantic/WEA 50313, and they're both identical, on the tracklisting, when comparing the grooves, and having listened to them as well. What ref # do you have on yours, Pierre? Do the grooves show that track? I'd certainly like to hear a sample of that freak track.

The reference is same as yours (50313) and yes, the grooves show the track. Your copy and mine being different, apparently the song is not even on all French releases.

Questions about «Let The Music Play».

Do the song ever made it on an album? Was a long version available?

I only have this song on a French 7" (with the cheesiest, sleaziest and most vulgar sleeve of all :icon_biggrin: : a fat guy with dark glasses in a white suit showing his hairy belly, leaning on a Rolls-Royce, two bimbos with bedroom eyes on each side: cheap porn aesthetics at their best :icon_mrgreen:).

The very complete site Giorgio Moroder mentions a Durium Italian 7" but nothing else. With a different sleeve?

    Any information? Thanks in advance.

This is one of my fave cheesy disco songs bar none. A guy I dated a few years back played in a punk band and he liked it so much--he only knew the disco I played really--they started covering it at live gigs.

ANyway I've NEVER EVER heard of a fourth song on side 2 but now i'm VERY curious!

I DO have the 7" single with the same cover you mention (isn't the man with the hairy belly Giorgio?) and Let the Music Play on the flipside. It's a great song that I don't think ever came out in a longer version and deserved more exposure.

Beats me, but I still like the Munich Machine Medley version instead anyway.
