This is a long shot guys; I heard it on a 98.7 KISS Mastermixx many times. Since I don't have a sample it's gonna be ruff to figure out, and it is rare too, but the beat is paced like Aleem - Release Yourself, and some of the refrain/chorus lyrics went...
That's where I'm from so I never forget
The people are down and the place is OK
Newark, New Jersey USA
then the DJ scratches 'Break, break break!'
It MIGHT be on a Vintertainment label but I could be wrong. Anyone know what and who it is? You'd have to be there to know I guess but good luck.
Any takers??? :icon_sad:
I can only wonder how such a rare track like this one can be difficult to decypher but someone think HARD! LOL!
the only thing that springs to mind from that description 'although i don't remember the lyrics as its been a long time' is 'Roof is on fire' by 'rockmaster scott & dynamic 3' the beats & tempo is similar to 'Aleem's Release Yourself' and after the rap the dj scratches 'Break , Break , Break' its also roughly around the same year you are searchin'
its probably not that as that track isnt that rare , but as a suggestion you should maybe search through some 'Latin Rascal Kiss Mastermixes' on youtube from '84 it might turn up on there and refresh your memory and u can possibly make a sample clip from it :icon_cool: i have stumbled across many of my unsolved ID's from hours of searching on Youtube :icon_razz:
thought that was a bit of a stab in the dark
have u tried
'Rusty P & Sure Shot 3 - Breakdown New York Style'
havent heard it for a while so cant remember if it had guitar licks or not but its definitely similar drums / tempo to Aleem and has 'Break' scratches
