How about the "Dallas" theme, which used disco high-hat to convey the new cosmopolitan image of the south? "Trapper John M.D." stcks in my mind for that reason, and also Pernell Roberts' early perfecting of the bearded-dad look.
Kind of a ringer, but "Boogie Motion" is certainly a mainstream oldie because of the popularity of the syndicated "Dance Fever" show, is it not? "TSOP" has got to be the granddaddy of them all.
