I am totally embarrassed - I am a regular poster / visitor to this site, but I have never put any of my discs info into the vault....so now i took some fab digital images but i don't know how to "link these to a URL" and uplaod these...i have never uploaded digital photos infact, only sent these as attachments
i am not the most computer savvy - can someone help me ??
In fact i am so embarrassed that i have re-registered as a new user !!!!:icon_rolleyes::icon_rolleyes:
Hi TT - pretty straightforward! Register with a site like Flickr upload the images to it and then once they are uploaded - grab (cut & paste) the URL properties by right clicking on the image. Then click the 'mountain' image - paste the URL (Remove any code that follows .jpg) and voila!!![]()

Hi Todd, what was your old nick? BTW, don't be afraid to ask for help here!!!
I always use TinyPic - Share The Experience!™ Very simple, no registration needed. Just upload your pic from your PC and then copy and paste the url with .
But in the vault section you can simply upload directly from your PC, using the Browse function. No other hosting needed!
thanks !
i registered at flickr...and then i went to post and did see i can upload as videoskooter wrote....so now i have added a few things that came up in threads recently....hopefully they went thru Ok !
Thanks Johan and Russell for helping Todd out.
Todd, I'm doing a bunch of subs right now and did get your record submissions and scans... Thank you. Just one very, very important thing: you need to fill in all the required fields such as label, year, producer, tracklisting... when you submit a record. Thanks again.

I too, have been reluctant to submit because of some questions I have.(And the fact that I'm not that good with digital photography......yet. I just haven't taken time to learn it.)
1) Do I have to re-size the pictures before I submit them?
2) I notice that you post the label. My scanner is large enough to handle that. But it is not large enough to scan a whole album cover. Do I take a photo and crop it as best I can for you? Or do you end up cropping it yourself?
And I have a suggestion.
Is it possible to have a "click for larger picture" feature added to the pics?
Sometimes, I wish I could read the label myself, for extra info that is not available in the information provided to the left of the picture. Is this not cost effective? Or is this the first time anyone asked?
Thanks guys.

Needlefingers, thanks for expressing interest in adding records to the Vault. I'll try to answer your questions as best as I can.
No, just scan them or take a picture of them with your camera and I'll take care of the rest. Obviously it would be very appreciated if you could crop the image before uploading, but resizing is not necessary.1) Do I have to re-size the pictures before I submit them?
Scanning a label or cover is always better than taking a picture.2) I notice that you post the label. My scanner is large enough to handle that. But it is not large enough to scan a whole album cover. Do I take a photo and crop it as best I can for you? Or do you end up cropping it yourself?
For the round record label, simply scan and crop it.
Scanning the record cover is the best, but since the scanner surface is not large enough to handle the entire record then you could scan it twice-once for each half. Alternately, you could take a "close" digital photo taking care not to get reflections from the flash on the cover and to take it as head on as possible so that the cover is "square" and fills as much of the frame as possible.
In a future revision of the site this may very well happen. Is it possible to have a "click for larger picture" feature added to the pics?
Hope the above helps.

Thank you Bernie. You answered everything.
I have been wanting to contribute to the vault and will begin doing so soon.
I've even been keeping a list of records I have or recently purchased, that are not already in the discomusic.com library.
I work in many digital audio editing programs and even edit video on Avid once in a while.
I've just never been a camera person. I own 3 digital camera's and two are still in the box. And the one I use doesn't have a handbook (even online).
Go figure. That's my kind of logic. To each his own.
Once again, thank you.
thanks Bernie for also clarifying how to add items...I didn't mean to leave fields blank, just thought it was redundant...but didn't mean to cause anyone extra work - so now i know for future. I also screwed up and submitted a cover without including the disc photos...i went back to add the disc scans but system wouldn't let me ....maybe because it was in the queue all ready ???
While you can't edit a submission once it is sent you can resubmit with a small note with corrections or additions and it'll get added to the entry. Also keep in mind that it may sometimes take up to a few days for new entries to appear as I routinely get backlogged. Thanks again for adding records to the site.
