I can't get enough of the THP sound but this Prelude gem passed me by 'til recently & I absolutely love the LP especially 'Wastin My Love'. On this site it says that the LP was released in '78 but other sources say '79. :icon_confused: Can someone enlighten moi please?

the 2X12 promo pack has 1978 printed on the jacket and the labels.

BTW, did you now that it's the Duncan Sisters that do the vocals on the Sticky Fingers LP?

"Wasting My Love" is a classic song, incredible energy and what a break!

Yes, THP productions always seemed to use the Duncan Sisters didn't they? I agree about Wasting My Love; can't believe it eluded me for so long - perfect pure disco!:icon_razz:

I love discovering disco that eluded me BITD, and rediscovering disco that at the time i didn't much care for, but listening to it now, makes me wonder why I didn't get it the first time around.

glad you discovered "Sticky Fingers"! and don't you just love the LP art work and suggestive group name, God I love the '70's!

i was Ebay a few moments ago and someone has a Canadian LP / 12" of "Sticky Fingers" and they say it's from 1979, maybe your CD is also Canadian, hence the different years stated for it's release.

I know what u mean dk! Can u believe that when I first heard Gino Soccio's 'Dancer' I didn't like it!! (it was on the radio with alot of interference i hasten to add!:icon_confused:); now it's in my top 10 tracks of all-time!
& yes I love all those naughty, suggestive 70s covers & names; the record companies couldn't get away with it now I s'pose.:icon_sad:

    Re: Sticky Fingers

I have the Canadian LP and it reads:
    (p) 1978 Prelude Records
    (c) 1978 Prelude Records
    (c) 1979 Canada - Quality Records Canada

So, it was released in '78 in the US, and '79 in Canada.

Which is rather odd considering that THP were Canadian.

I listened to Wastin My Love last night and I'm sure the intro has been recently sampled on a tune that has been played a lot on dance radio stations at the moment. It just sounds so familiar.

I agree with you on Dancer. I always thought it was a bit dull but rediscovered it on the Almighty "We Love Disco" CD. It was mixed into something that just seemed so inappropriate to me at the time but it works.

Yes, the horn bit was sampled by Joey Negro on 'Must Be The Music' a couple of years ago (featuring Taka Boom). Joey (aka Dave Lee) is a huge disco fan; he produced Take That's version of Relight My Fire amongst many others.

Remember, MTV and VH1, and other video publicity streams had not been born yet; so the albums were used in that vain.

I recognise it now but I found the song I thought was the current hit. It is called Guilty by DeSouza. It is all brass and strings and it just HAS to be a sample. Its too good to be new!

I knew Dave Lee is a big disco fan and seems to select really unknown (to UK ears) tracks to sample but I didn't know he was responsible for the Take That cover.

I found my copy of the Sticky Fingers LP back in 1998, on a market stall in a small town in the Dordogne, France, completely by chance when I was on holiday there! I bought Cerrone IV from the same seller. :icon_biggrin:
