To the dj's who played "Let's Groove" by EWF did you mix in at the tricky vocoder intro or did you mix in at the vocal?
I find the vocoder intro hard to mix into.
I used to spin this cut so many times and for so long that probably mixed it in every way possible.
But probably most of the time overlaying the vocoder (32 beats) section over another song and then a nice 'chop' at the vocals.
I also had the CBS UK 12" with the instrumental version, that gives you infinite more choices, like mixing the instrumental first and then cutting back to the vocal version or doing long 'beatmixing' fade ins instead of doing a hard 'chop', although the 'energy' created by a nice chop at the right spot when those first 'let the grove.." vocals hit used to drive the crowds wild.
Also remember using both vocals version and over laying one copy two, four and even one beat behind to create the reverb effect, this record was great for a DJ to do this!!! the Dance floor was crazy!!
(with two beats delay it went something like this)
Gonna tell you, gonna tell you
what you can do – can do
with my love--my love
Oh right-Oh right..
Let's you know girl - know girl
what you can do - can do
you are out of sigh- out of sight
(at the vocal break)
We can boogie on down- down
boogie on down , down , down…
Fun stuff, makes me feel like breaking out the old Mixer:icon_razz::icon_razz::icon_confused:
