Marcio, good article but he also makes other amazing statements :icon_lol:
"Disco was so succesful in the 70's because we were not afraid of the future and some decadence. Money was less important for us BITD. Disco was festive and sexy, just like R&B and Rap these days. Only, they are so much more into making money, just like Madonna who is simply recycling."
When asked about the incident at Comisky park: "I don't think it's a bad thing because for me it was the well deserved punishment for opportunists like Claude François and Patrick Juvet :icon_eek: but it wasn't aimed at me since I invented Disco, the word didn't exist before I revealed it!!! It was me, who started making records where drums and percussion were put upfront and my records were not intended for radiostations but for Discothèques.
Disco is a spiritual thing, it can not be destroyed and it never was.
When the Bee Gees began to become massive they borrowed the term Disco from me. I'm not the King or Pope of Disco. In the US they consider me as an artist, in France I'm just a bloke who has a very long career. When they awarded me with the title Commander Of Arts And Letters I thought, mmh yeah okay, why not!
DJ's are today's artists. People who consider themselves artists usually only last 4 years because they are corrupted by money. It's the DJ who creates the sound and the melody now. Music styles will not come back, we just have to find a consensus where they have their place in the musical spectrum.
I'll just go on making music and organising big events. I'm 54 and for the next 3 years I only be working. I'm feeling better than ever!"
Gentlemen, start your engines:icon_lol:
