Only arrived in Brisbane yesterday morning and spent the day sleeping (on n off), so today was the first full day and as I was up before 7am, I wandered into town and amused meself until the shops opened.
Found two 2nd hand shops (with 4 more for tomorrow) and picked up the following 12"s:
Fatback - Bus Stop
Judy Cheeks - Mellow Lovin
The Ring - Jump!
Vicki Sue Robinson - To Sir With Love
Lana Pellay - Pistol In My Pocket
Alicia Bridges - Bodyheat
Monet - My Heart Gets All The Breaks (classic!)
Waterfront Home - Take A Chance On Me
C-Bank - One More Shot
Britt Ekland - Do It To Me
Taka Boom - To Hell With Him
and all for under 20 uk pounds!
Can't wait for tomorrow (after much needed sleep!)
Dance Till You Drop
Neil - they sure do hate their disco vinyl! Every single one was in the bargain basement area and I left behind:
Paul Parker - Pushin Too Hard / Right On Target
Normal Lewis - Maybe This Time
ERC Prime Cuts Medley
Miquel Brown - So Many Men
Carol Douglas - Night Fever
Astaire - Love Trap
Passion Tracking Volume II
+ a truely awful disco version of Hallelujah 2000 (from Handel's Messiah), on Australian Casablanca from 1979. Why was that ever made!!!!!
It's 6:40am here now and I've just got up and awaiting the temperature to climb a couple of degrees, before walking (miles) back into Brisbane. Breakfast by the river, until 9am and the vinyl hunting starts all over again
Mind you, it cost me 36UK pounds in excess baggage last year![]()
Dance Till You Drop
G'Day Remicks
It's on Australian CBS (via ZYX Records) with a date of 1986 and running at 6:50. The flip is Spanish Hustle (Latin Mix) 6:49 and the whole thing is in a yellow sleeve with big black lettering.
Do you know anything about one of the others I picked up:
The Ring - Jump! (Seems quite obscure and is on Vanguard from 1979)
Dance Till You Drop
G'day !!! Cool find !
As for JUMP , I immediately thought good things about that title ...but now I'm unable to actually play the tune in my head .....:icon_redface: someone else can surely describe it...
Hey , are you going out on the reef?? I was there a hundred years ago and took a little open train up into the mountains ....can't remember why now !!! Just to do it I guess . Have they still got those five foot tall anthills there ??
*****
you'd still be waiting for me at the airport
while my ship was coming in
Good to see you are having a good time.
Dont want to put a dampener on your trip but
The ring jump isnt especially obscure, ive seen it in the wild on 3 seperate occaisions in Sydney each time its been about $5. As for the Aussie Fatback band pressing usually goes for $2 - $5 and is fairly common, i.e my local has had three copies of it sitting there for the last year. But good to see you are putting your time to good use.![]()

Hi Sage
It's not a dampner when I'm buying for me
(Unless the tracks I'm buying are crap of course!!) :icon_confused:
Speaking of which...
Found the second shop today and after 3 hours sitting on the floor, sifting thru pile after pile, the need to pee was so great I paid for what I'd selected, and then realised what I'd taken for a giant mirror reflecting the shop, was in fact a completely seperate section! Hell's teeth, I only managed half the shop!!
Came away with x29 12"s and all at two (aussie) bucks a piece.
And.............no idea on what I've actually bought (apart from a couple of obvious ones), although I'm hoping there's some decent Italo, Hi-nrg, disco, euro style tunes somewhere in the pile
