30 years of 'I Feel Love'

Does anyone else think that there should be some kind of international day of celebration on the anniversary of what is probably the most exciting & original record of all-time, regardless of genre? I bet everyone can remember where they were when they first heard this amazing record. I've never ever been so knocked out on hearing a track for the first time as I was when I heard this; it changed my life forever.:icon_cool::icon_eek:

Just today, I passed I Feel Love (Patrick Cowley remix) to someone who had never heard this version before.

    The song lives on.

30 years ago ; I fell in love with the DIVA and have been a huge fan ever since.

I FEEL LOVE was the icing on the cake ; I discovered DOWN DEEP INSIDE [Theme from THE DEEP] first, then bought everything else that had come before.

It truly is a song that stood the test of time and it is a milestone in popular dance music.

The song, the sultry diva, the Casablanca machine behind her and the midas touch of MORODER/BELLOTTE...

Thanks for the great memories...I listen to I FEEL LOVE at least once a week.

Try to listen to IFL then listen to the electronic suite on ONCE UPON A TIME and then you'll understand why she is so unique.

hard to beleive it's been 30 years, i remember the first time i heard "i feel love" in a club, it was like nothing before and nothing since then as well.

Videoscooter, thanks for the incredible video of her Belgium performance, wonderful!

"i feel love" is a timless classic that has been remade and sampled countless times, but no one does it justice like Donna Summer does, it's hers and hers alone.

SandraDee, yes an international holiday should take place, especially for a song with such a beautifully simple message.

You bet I can remember, at age 14, I heard for the very 1st time this amazing new sound, waaaay ahead of its time during an hypnotist show at high school, a cute chick was being hypnosed and was dancing on stage to this unusual music that I fell in love right away.

30 years already. . . this is scary sure, it deserves some celebration, but at least Donna got her star 15 years ago on Hollywood walk of fame.

I feel love is probably one of the most remixed disco track from acid house to trance versions.
If you buy this record your life, will be better.

    Hi All.
Thought I'd revive this thread as an excuse to add a link regarding " I Feel Love".
From the 'Sound On Sound' magazine archives, here's an in-depth discussion with Pete Bellotte on the tracks' background.
Apologies if it's been posted before !

( In fact the entire archive on the production of classic tracks is fascinating !!)

The 35th anniversary of "I feel love" is now coming up, and hopefully those reading this in the UK will be aware that BBC Four has been repeating each weekly episode of Top of the Pops, roughly 35 years to the day since it was broadcast. At the moment, every week's episode features at least a few disco tracks.

Anyway, in the next couple of months, you can watch TOTP and watch I feel love climb up the charts; first entering at number 15 before climbing to number 3, then number 1 for four weeks. Unfortunately Donna never promoted the song in the UK, and never made a promo video; so the song is played once to the end credits, and Legs and Co dance to it on each of her weeks at number 1. Still, it'll be good to see it in context.

I'm loving basking in the nostalgia each Thursday as they repeat those old TOTP's, 1977 was the year i first got really interested in music...looking forward as you say to seeing I Feel Love storm to the top!
And hope we also see Legs & Co. throwing themselves around to Down Deep Inside !!
With I Remember Yesterday, Love's Unkind & I Love You to look forward to as well...no wonder i was smitten by the year's end, phew!! :oP
