Australia mate! The land of many great funkateers!
One of the amazing things of this forum is that I thought I knew many more disco tunes & artists than most people, til I read posts like this one. I don't recognize any song other than "More more more" and the "Boogie woogie dancin' shoes" here, even as I know and like some of the artists. Of course, this makes me want to listen to all this material!
Titanic, for example. Now that I'm back at searching in the vinyl shelves, I see a "Greatest Hits" of this band a lot. I think I probably never ever heard one of their "hits"! Still, many people here know them and others I don't even find or remember.
Maybe every country had a different experience of this phenomenon back in the day, and came to like some songs more than the others. Maybe I'm just found my own humbleness. I don't know, but it seems interesting! 8)
It don't mean a thing (if ain't got that swing)
Titanic were a Norwegian rock group with an English singer. They had two records which were big disco hits in New York, Sultana and Rain 2000, and some of their records are collectable on the hip hop scene for the breaks. Santa Fe is a great record and not many people know it. It sounds like a tribal house record, with a guy sort of talking over the top. They're very easy to find, especially if you live in Europe. There's also another tune called Macumba but it's spoilt a bit by cheesy parts to the song (I recently did a re-edit of it to get rid of these bits).
