Jimmy Ruffin "Tell Me What You Want"

I received my CD's yesterday from Lary Sanders/MorningStar
and on one of the Sandpiper CD's is an extended edit of
Jimmy Ruffin's "Tell Me What You Want" with a gorgeous
instrumental intro that I've never heard before. I have the
original 45 and I had no idea there was an instrumental
mix.Does anyone have any info on this? Thanks

This is probably the Tom Moulton version released on the Disco Gold CD a short while ago.

I don't know if the mix was done back in the day or recently. I'm thinking it must have been back in the day because the EQ levels on Moulton's recent remixes sound flat. They might have created both a vocal and instrumental mix, but when it came time to release the 45, they only put on the vocal mix. I think the tape may have been damaged or they didn't find a good machine to transfer the analog mix because the extended mix sounds dirty.

Thanks for the info guys! I skipped over that CD many times
because of the repeats of stuff I already have and never noticed the new mix.

I would recommend Disco Gold, not just because of the rare Tell Me What You Want remix (although that's why I bought it), but also the 12" mixes of other tracks on that 2 CD compilation.
