Unusual, but it's not as if there isn't a precedent for it. The truly fabulous guitar solos in Donna Summer's Hot Stuff (Jeff Baxter) and Michael Jackson's Beat It (Eddie Van Halen) went a hell of a long way to making those tracks memorable.

Fro my taste I think Slash ruined the song, that type of Metal/acid Rock guitar solo was a total mis-match and has no place what so ever in "Le freak", especially over that funky bass line, no matter who plays it, or how good He is.
Slash was probably staying at the same Hotel and Roger/Edwards invited him over for kicks..:icon_mrgreen::icon_biggrin:
Some posters claim this performance in Japan is Edwards last ...:icon_cry:
