Another nice thing about it is that it's in stereo. The LP mix (which I think is the same as the 7") is mono.
Disco Funk
I love the original of this song so I was delighted to find the disco version..It's not so overdone that it loses it's essence.but has just enough flavor to own the disco title..sorry I dont have anything like a snippet to share..:icon_cry:

Disco Funk
Damn right! It is a nice & mellow version.
The flute intro is “just enough”.
That woman also has that slight hoarse voice that puts me in a melancholic mood.

But no offense to Disco Funk, the long version owned by a good friend of mine is in full stereo…

:icon_biggrin: I Luv this Song!
How long is the 12" Disco Mix?
Does anyone know if it appears on any CD's?
I'd love to get my hands on a copy of this mix![]()

"The Problem is....Choice."
It’s not a very long 12” (4’19”).
Beside the instrumental intro, the song remains mostly identical to the original 7”.
Nicolette Larson - Lotta Love
By the way, she is (was) a nice looking person…:icon_rolleyes:

So Mark, do you recall if you liked the "What Is Hip?" CD, particularly the Nicollette track? :icon_question::icon_question::icon_question:
Mmmmmm, the Jim Burgess remix of "Lotta Love" has always been one of my favorites. I'm soooo glad Robbie Leslie played it at the "Remember the Party Encore" event in 2004. That's the most recent time I've heard the song played in a club. :icon_sad: Hopefully not the last time! Hmmmm, maybe I need to mention the song to a certain DJ...![]()
Hey Keefe,
I don't remember if I listened to the whole thing or just a couple tracks I was interested in!!! :icon_redface::icon_redface::icon_redface: It was one of those Amoeba weekends where I grabbed stuff and went home and put it in a pile and forgot about it!! :icon_rolleyes::icon_exclaim:
Sorta like your NEW RELEASE TUESDAY shopping expeditions!!! :icon_razz::icon_razz::icon_razz:
l have to pull it out and give it another spin. I was just curious because I rather liked the "soft rock" stuff and this cd was packed with those tunes.
Keefe, you were the first person who ever mentioned this mix to me--I never knew that it even existed. I've looked in the Nicolette Larson section at Ameoba every week for several years now hoping they might have this promo 12"--but I've never seen it. I do have it on the Remember The Party cds and Svendy put it on a tape for me!!!![]()
"Lost inside adorable illusion...."
I totally missed that 1 BITD and I think it was Needlefingers who made me discover this jewel!
How funny Mark, as I read your first paragraph, I was thinking what a familiar situation!!! :icon_lol::icon_lol::icon_lol:
Good luck with your search for the twelve! I think I remember seeing it pass through Aloha a few times BITD. So, it's rare but not impossibly rare. You know, I can't remember how I first found out about the remix. Seems to me that Michael Garrett used to spin it on Disco Saturday nights when he did his sets on K-101. I don't think I first heard it at Troc. I do remember that I owned it the same time the Doobie Brothers twelve of "What A Fool Believes" came out. Funny one was commercial and the other wasn't when both were pretty popular radio cuts.
I've never saw this singer in motion before.
I know that we are talking from a totally different musical range and time lapse but I find that Eddie Brickle has some resemblance with her.
YouTube - Eddie Brickell and the New Bohemians - What I Am
Does she moves like her or does she only has some of her mimics?
I can't really tell.
Mark, I checked and guess what? I found the promo twelve at Aloha when it first opened. Remember I told you Rick and Donald had bought several huge DJ collections. To get people into the store, they were selling TREASURES for CHEAP prices. Can you believe I only paid ONE DOLLAR for the twelve? Plus it was in mint condition!!! :icon_biggrin:
I just found out with surprise that Nicolette Larson did background vocals on "Weird Al" Yankovic "Even Worse" 1988 album...
...small world...
FYI-"Lotta Love" was written by Neil Young.Nicolette
sang background for Young on several LPs(possibly
"Long May You Run"?)-when the two would harmonize
it was sweet bliss(compare Emmylou Harris with
Gram Parsons)This is one of those songs that if I had
ever heard it on the dance floor,it would've reduced
me to tears. Thanks for a great thread Miss Dayna!

Here's my second favourite cut from the same LP that Lotta Love came from, because it's so nice and funky:
Disco Funk
I think that JIM BURGESS was surely hired by the warner brothers to do disco mixes for the more pop records(WHAT A FOOL BELIEVES,DA YA THINK I'M SEXY,etc.).He did a great mix on LOTTA LOVE,new bass drum, some new percussion.I just found out about this mix about two months ago on you tube,i'm sure that on e-bay it must be very expensive!
I found this site that has the song on it ,I think you can download it "legally" of course..
cool stuff on the site too
If I'm wrong please tell me...:icon_eek:

Here's a scan of the actual 12". I'd imagine it's quite rare, as mine is the only one I've ever seen.
Contrary to popular consensus, I'd always felt that Jim Burgess phoned-this-in. Compared to his complete re-workings of "Forbidden Love Suite" and "Hot Butterfly", for example, this is just a bit weak, as a club remix. Although, I believe it's much better than the original single.
Though, in his defense (he IS one of my Idols), it was 1978 and he was peaking as a DJ. As well as becoming the #1 Remix-Man at Warner. Could be he just didn't have the time, or budget, to spend on this particular track.
Speaking as a career editor/remixer, with 100's of releases under my belt...
I'll say that (using my own history as example {and there are PLENTY of tracks I wish I'd put more effort into!}) it can be fairly obvious when someone's work is "inspired". As opposed to when it's simply, "meeting a deadline".
P.S. I have a MAC. Could someone explain to me how I can get an image from my desktop, into the message? Instead of always attaching thumbnails?
<sigh> I'm an Analog guy, lost in a digital world.![]()
Another Mac OS-X person-cool! Attached images in posts are supposed to come out as thumbnails. Once you click on them then they appear in full size. This is the way it is supposed to be so that a too-big image doesn't blow out the post and text making it unreadable.

I took the Lotta Love 12″ vinyl disco mix and did a remix of it back in 2004…8 mins long. I felt the original disco mix was a bit, er,....too much like the original LP/7" version. You can hear it here:
