Ah, the ill fated 'Street Scene' ! I was speaking to the editor an hour ago ! These charts are from around the time just before I stopped going out clubbing in quite the same way.. early House kicked in shortly after and everything changed .

I've been meaning to put up some charts (scans..I'm not typing them out !) from ...whispers..... Gay News from 1979/80..when disco was at it's peak. Is anyone interested?

The David Kerr is a cover of Bryan Adams

High Above The Clouds is amazing and was a big Saint tune

Deep Within My Heart is one of my favourite Twins tunes

Soif de la vie (they spelt it incorrectly!) - Satsify is great as well

The Nick Eastside/Loleatta Holloway is a great tune as well

This is suddenly ringing bells ! Was it an early Chicago House label thing?

Yeah, not really your typical sounding "hi-nrg record".. It has more of a very early "house" sound to it.. very good ! Killer vocal.

I love these 2; was always surprised at Narada's success in the gay clubs with this but Ian Levine loved it so that was probably the reason! The original '69' was huge at Paradise Garage in NY, so they were both big on the scene in NY.

Of course being too young is another reason for not remembering it!

I only know of Divine & Hazell dean cos me parents told me

    Actually............

just had a flashback to the first club (straight), I used to attend as a fresh-faced 18 year old. (ID was essential as I looked about 15!!)

    Narada's - I Shoulda Loved Ya
George Benson - Give Me The Night
4 Tops - Same Old Song
Raw Silk - Do It To The Music
David Jospeh - You Can't Hide Your Love
    and...

Spandau Ballet - Musclebound (with all the girls dancing in circles, pretending to shovel dirt in time with the music!!)

Good grief - no wonder I turned gay!

I should be laying my hands on some more Street scene mags in the next couple of weeks so I will post some more charts soon !
Interesting to note the big difference in the street scene and Record mirror charts from the same dates.

It'll be interesting... I think Ian Levine and Damon Rochfort (Nomad and now Coronation Street !) compiled the Street Scene Hi NRG charts ....as for Record Mirror, I think Mr Levine had quite an influence there too.

James Hamilton, who wrote Record Mirror's dance column was rather anti Hi NRG...anyone would think he was trying to hide something..:icon_lol:

Yeah, most of the charts and new release info was provided by Ian, damon & Ralph Tee. Plenty of reviews of all the new releases at the time. Ian wrote the HI-NRG column.

    Cheers Neil :icon_biggrin:[/quote]

Yes this one was a remake of the old BRYAN ADAMS disco venture.
I remember seeing it a lot in used record stores in Canada. It was available on the BGM label [BGM not BMG] along with HUEY BABY HARRIS' "You've got to be a winner" and JAYNE COLLINS' "Madonna's Eyes".
LET ME TAKE YOU DANCING was available as a see-through ninyl 12in.

It was a quickie,NRG-inflicted cover. At the time everyone who brought it up mentioned that hunting for the original ADAMS 12in from 1979 was still a better idea.
