I need some ID on these songs?

G'day all. Been a long time since I last posted here, been so busy and rarely find the time to post in forums.

Anyways there are a number of songs I really need some identification for as they sound great.

Firstly one of the regulars here uploaded a song years back to some site asking for ID on it, I too want to know what this song is as I love this song, anyhow here's the link to the song YouSendIt - File Sharing Transfer Delivery - PC FTP Replacement does anyone know the name of this song and who sings it?

Secondly a number of years back I was asking about a song used for a commercial for "The Comedy Channel" which sounded liked one of those disco songs from the 1978/79 period. I've just recently put this commercial on to YouTube for you's to see YouTube - The Comedy Channel (Australian ad) 1999 , is anyone familiar with this song?

Thirdly there was a clip on the Soul Train site Soul Train - Don Cornelius Productions, Inc. years ago in the Weekly Series section which was an excerpt from a 1972 Soul Train line, the song they were dancing to was very funky. Unfortunately it's not there anymore so I can't link you's to it. Anyhow I was asking the Soul Train Yahoo group what that song was and one of them said it was "Pee Foul" by the Nite-Liters, I listened to that track and it sounded a bit similar but not quite as it was more uptempo than the song in that clip. So anyone who viewed that clip, do you's know what that song was and the artist? If it is "Pee Foul" is there a few versions of that song made at different tempos?

Fourthly There's a Channel 9 station ID from Australia from 1977 which uses a beautiful disco track that sounds like Charlie's Angels theme or Love Boat theme YouTube - Channel 9 Australia "Let Us be the One" Ident 1977 , I've also put a longer version of this logo to YouTube as well YouTube - Channel 9 Australia logo 1977/78 . Anyhow is the music used for this station logo an actual song, or are there any songs similar to this music? If there are any I'd really like to know about them. For those who are familiar with the late 70s ABC station logos and are wondering why Channel 9 Australia copied the logo graphics from ABC, I was told Channel 9 is affiliated with ABC and bought the rights to use the ABC graphics and the person who made the graphics for ABC station logos back then also made the graphics for Channel 9 as well.

Finally I found a cool Levis commercial from 1979 on a really early video cassette which had recordings from 1979 on it YouTube - Levis (Australian ad) 1979 , it has an awesome disco track with a funky chunky bass line to it. Does anyone know if the song used for this commercial is sampled/parodied from an actual disco song or is there any disco songs that sound similar to this with that sort of funky bass line?

Anyways if anyone can help ID these songs I'd most appreciate it.

    Cheers
    Troy

Re: I need some ID on these songs?

Is anyone familiar with any of these songs at all?

The first one the YouSendIt has expired the file so I've put it back up there again for you's to listen http://download.yousendit.com/822BA0EE17943342 . At least could someone identify this song as it must of been somewhat popular when it was recorded in the early 1980s? The lyrics sound like either "two in love" or "to be loved", sounds something along the lines of early 80s Earth, Wind & Fire or Ashford & Simpson or maybe Diana Ross duoing with some male soul artist.

Any help would be most appreciated.

Re: I need some ID on these songs?

Ok I've just identified the first song that I put on YouSendIt after doing a bit of research on allmusic.com, it's "Two In Love" by Midnight Star recorded 1980, great song!:icon_biggrin:

Anyhow if anyone can identify any of the others I'd most appreciate it, I know they would be difficult as they are mostly commercial/station ID themes:icon_lol:.

Re: I need some ID on these songs?

Sorry, I can't help you on any of the song IDs or recommendations. That TV stations theme music sounds pretty generic, as does the Levi's music. By that, I mean, there really isn't any good examples of music recorded for LP or 45 release that sounds exactly like those. I doubt anything that sounded exactly like the TV station theme music would sell, unless it was on a James Last LP.

But thanks for that link to the Soul Train website. I was browsing the guest list from the old shows - wow, Dennis Coffey was on an episode from 71 or so (probably playing Scorpio). And Symtec & Wylie did a track called Bootleggin back in the day, and went on to become funk band Southside Movement.

I Know! This is an ABC's version of a Carpenter's music called Let Me Be The One.

The '80s TV Theme SuperSite / 80stvthemes.com: Come Home to '80s TV -> Listen the complete version of the music Let Us Be The One, from ABC! (1976) :icon_mrgreen:
