Feedback needed: The Soul Of Disco CD

I came across this CD on Amazon, released in U.K. by Joey Negro with some of his edits:

The Soul of Disco: Music: Various Artists - Amazon-U.S. | Amazon-U.K.

Unfortunately, there are no sound clips and most of the material featured there is unknown to me. Could any of the hard-core Disco aficionados help me out? Is this a worthy compilation or just a dud?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Euroflash--

I had to check my iPod and found most of disc 1 on there, while disc 2 didn't fare so well, although I remember that looooooooving "Kiliminjaro" especially.

Can't listen to all the tracks just at this moment, but I seem to remember that it is largely 80s stuff, tending towards house. Along with Dimitri from Paris, I think that Joey Negro is very reliable!

Below are the tracks I put on the iPod; blanks are tracks I skipped.

    Disc: 1
    1. Got to Keep on Trying [Joey Negro Re-Edit] 2. That's Hot [Joey Negro Re-Edit] - Jesse G 3. Ebonite [Joey Negro Re-Edit] 4. Lookin' Good (Shake Your Body) [Joey Negro Re-Edit] 5. Sunshine 6. We Have All the Time - Milton Hamilton 7. Don't Fight the Feeling - Master Force 8. 9. 10. 11. Over Please [Joey Negro Re-Edit] - Eastside Connection Disc: 2 1. 2. 3. 4. Kilimanjaro - Letta Mbulu 5. 6. 7. Jealousy - Natural Order 8. My Chance to Dance 9. 10. 11.

    Definitly not a dud.
Mainly soulful and funky disco, album and 12" versions, 1975-1981. You will probably recognize a couple of them when you hear them like Mahogany, Velvet hammer etc.

Not the greatest compilation ever but a must if you know the standards and want to dig a little deeper.
High quality music and the sound quality is above average for CD:s mastered from vinyl.
There is a a Soul of disco II that i recommend if you like the 1st.

I think it's far from "house". One or two tracks could be classified as electro.

    Thanks!

I appreciate your feedback. Deeper and more soulful obscure Disco / Funky tracks is what rocking my boat these days. The time period (1975-1981) is also perfect. I will look into the Volume II.

I've got Volumes 1 & 2 and think the compilations are very good. What Dave does is dig very deep and finds some great tunes, that were very underground at the time. Certainly worth buying if you like 'interesting' Disco.

I bought the first one just for the Jeannie Tracy & Letta Mbulu tracks. Those 2 beauties are reason enough for purchasing!

You are absolutely right, Noman. My memory was playing tricks on me--so many comps, so little brain function! Sorry to have misled anyone.
