I'd love to hear a little background info on the making of "You Stepped Into My Life" and "Mind Up Tonight." Also, how did she meet up with Paul Lawrence (producer). Thanks.

Hi Dayna,
I'd like to know how she felt about the disco era and how did it impact her?
Find them and destroy them!
I never really followed Melba Moore's career, but I saw her on the TV series Hotel and she sang her hit "Read these lips" anf fell in love with that song and went and bought it the next day.
DANCE!!-To the BOOGIE WONDERLAND........
2 questions
- What was her favorite city and venue to perform at
- Describe what the transition from dance -> gospel has meant to her
When we saw Melba last year at the Empire Plush Room in San Francisco, she mentioned something about some upcoming hip surgery (if I recall correctly). If that was correct, how's she recovering? Well, I hope!
Will we see her touring again soon?
Thanks for letting us have the opportunity to submit questions, Dayna!
Dayna:
Great Linda Clifford interview. So I know this one will be good too.
Two questions for Ms. Moore:
1. Did she fear that doing disco would compromise her Broadway career, especially after winning a Tony?
2. After her painful first marriage (which she talks about in her one-woman show) did Moore ever reconcile with Clifton Davis? They also had a variety TV show together in 1972. Sort of the black Sonny & Cher. They both seemed to have been drawn to the gospel arena since then. So I wonder if they are in contact with each other. And if maybe he's still the love of her life. (I know I'm getting Rona Barrett on you here. But enquiring minds want to know.)
And please tell her to perform live in Seattle sometime soon!
Thanks.

Thanks for doing this!I have a couple..
You probably have this question prepared already, but just to put it out there anyway: Out of all the notable producers she's worked with (Gene McDaniels, Van McCoy, McFadden & Whitehead, Kashif and so on..), was there one or a few of them that she especially enjoyed working with?
Also, I wonder how did her collaboration with Moroder associate Pete Bellotte on her "Burn" LP come about? It's one which doesn't seem to be mentioned much and strikes me as an interesting (albeit brief) shift in sound from her previous album..
Thanks again!
This is going to be great!
Here's a couple,
Several of her peers has thrown their hats back in the ring, and released new R&B LPs (Stephanie Mills, Teena Marie, Freddie Jackson, etc.) and while not being that well accepted by the "young" audience, were all very well done solid releases, has she given any thought to doing new material?
If So, any chance of collaborating with the old Hush Production members?
(Kashif, Paul Laurence, Freddie Jackson, etc)
and any info on her years with Hush Productions would be of interest also!![]()

"The Problem is....Choice."
Great questions..and I will ask her but her agent Ron can be "shall we say rather Guarded " I set up the interview through him..He would contact me quite frequently wanting me to get some gigs in for Melba in florida telling me that she can still Blow out Pick Me Up I'll Dance,You Stepped Into My LIfe ,Love's Commin At Ya,This Is It and The Other side Of The Rainbow.Which I have no doubt..so he wants Disco gigs for her..and basically the gay clubs are the ones that will book the old school Divas for events and concerts...So I'm going to ask her If she likes being called a Disco Diva or does it feel too restrictive to her ? because lets face it she's a Tony award winner for Purlie..The first african american woman EVER to replace a white woman on Brodway" "DIane Keaton"quite a milestone"she was a school teacher..has been in motion pictures.. sings Gospel.. she has worn many hats..I think this will be very informative.IF I can get what I want from this interview..Thank you qdearl

Ok ... others have already hinted at this ..but I would really appreciate it if Melba Moore would be candid about her involvement with disco music ... she was one of the first on the scene and then stayed with it all the way through charting probably every year . By choice ?? Did she proactively desire to be a part of the club scene ?? (was she also one who personally went clubbing? ) Or did she moreso go with what the producers threw her way ..they had dance tracks ... she sang them . .....?
Did some warn her about being "too" disco ... that doing so could be adverse to her career ?
And I hope she'd like to go into some detail as to what it was like to work with Van McCoy ....the process with him in the studio ....and if she knew him well personally. Please stress to her that there is little information about this great man .... and we need people like her that worked with him to shed some light ...
On THIS IS IT .. They both must have been disappointed that it didn't become a pop smash . Was its club success satisfying ? Did she and Van keep in touch after their recording session ... did they follow the song's progress together? (i.e "Hello, Melba , this is Van " ... speaking happily(?) ... " ....did you see that THIS IS IT is in the Billboard disco Top Five this week ?? " )
What I'm wondering is .... did charting on the disco chart matter much at the time to her ... to Van ?? ??
Thank you Dayna ....have a great time talking with Miss Moore ....

I will ask her about Van McCoy..but in a way that doesnt make it sound like the interview is turning towards another person..."DIVA"S":icon_eek: I'm already asking her what it was like working with recording "Time To Come Home" with Beyonce . But I will get all the juice I can on this subject..Thank you for the great questions.
