"Sweet Dreams" came out in 1984. In the same year George Kranz "Din Daa Daa" filled a lot of our local dance floors,i wonder if it's that your'e looking for.
I don't know the title of the song. It is an instrumental that came out around 1980 and it has an uptempo beat. The song may have a space name to it. I've searched around but to no avail. It used to be played quite often on pop radio back in that late 70s, early 80s era. It has a spacey, electric synthesized ding ding ding da-ding ding-ding ding-ding ding, ding. Da-da-ding, da-da-ding, da-da-ding, ding, ding.
I'm sure the song has some sort of space-type of title to it. Moon man or Man for Mars or something of the sort. The song was very popular. I heard it at a club where they played I Feel Love, Sweet Dreams by Eurythmics and then this song right after. Couldn't get to the DJ and ask him.
I know. Vague info but just think back to popular, electronic style instrumentals from the era and that might help. Please!!! Thanks.

It might be Underwater by Harry Thuman. It was popular and begins with those ding, ding....'s you describe.
Or maybe Magic Fly by Space?
I'm almost certain that the title of the song had some type of space name. I've seen some titles but haven't been able to listen to see if those were them. Cosmic Traveller, Mind Warp, and others. Could Patrick Cowley have done this song? The radio stations used to kill it. It had a very psychadelic, synthesized, spacey thing about it.
Must of Patrick Cowley's tracks are NOT instrumental.
Secondly. *we* simply have to little info to work with:
There a zillions of space/synth tracks that fit it..
Kano, Giorgo Moroder, Gino Soccio, Laserdance, Space, Jean Michel Jarre, Koto, Cerrone, etc. etc.
Patrick Cowley did a song called Megatron Man.
French artists Elli & Jacno???? A lot of their stuff was instrumental and it were simple spacey Technodisco tracks.
Info - Well, I know I haven't given alot of info but, if you think back to around 1979-80 and the handful of VERY popular, spacey electro/disco instrumentals with the synthesizer sound, I'm sure I could find it from the list, if one were provided.
Megatron Man - That could be it. Is it an instrumental?
French Aristis - Were the songs they did in that era and were they instrumentals?
*****
so to clarify ..... you first heard it on the radio 'round '80 and then again in a club years later when SWEET DREAMS was popular ....
If you were hearing it on NYC disco stations then .... it could be most anything .... and that ding ding ding intro does make me think of UNDERWATER .... but if you were living say in Dallas at the time .... that could narrow it down to more likely mainstream choices .... ....

You are, of course, most graciously welcome for the assistance ....

I was wrong!Through research and just looking and looking, I have found it!!! :icon_mrgreen: It is no surprise that the person who did the song is also the one who did the music to the classic "I Feel Love" by Donna Summer. The song is by Giorgio Morodor and it is, if you remember, "The Chase" (theme from Midnight Express, 1978).
Remember that song?!!! :icon_biggrin:
I had to come back and tell everyone just in case anyone else was lookin for it.
