Thanks for the info :icon_biggrin:
5 days until release.
I must confess that I haven't heard most of them :icon_redface:
BUT, Supermax is an Austrian.
Bernie was spot-on with his text about the new cd realese "Disco Deutschland Disco". It's indeed great that the first hidden gems of the Krautdisco kind have finally been made globally available - mindbending schlager stuff, big budget orchestral workouts and bits and pieces of mondo bizarro, plus some favourites. Supermax, Ganymed, Amanda Lear and Munich Machine we all know and apparently Alfie Khan did have his lp out in America, and they had Su Kramer there too. However, the likes of the outlandish "Sex World" by Berry Lipman and anything the fab Peter Thomas Sound Orchestra must have been more difficult to obtain, not to mention Marianne Rosenberg. Mr Videoskooter has kindly put some visuals of the acts on display, check them out. And do grab the cd NOW before it's too late!

I only saw the vinyl 2 record set on this and bought it; problem was they put 2 copies of the first record in the sleeve--so I returned it and got the cd version--which was actually cheaper!!! Haven't really listened to the whole thing--just wanted to hear the Su Kramer. :icon_redface:![]()
"Lost inside adorable illusion...."
Pushing this thread back up! My wife (yep she's German) found this today in a second hand shop. I never heard it before, I didn't even know it existed!
Udo Jürgens is a German crooner (best know for his millionseller "Merci") but he apparently jumped on the D-Bandwagon too!
"Ich Weiss Was Ich Will (I Know What I want)", not bad at all!

I got an original German copy of the Su Kramer track and the sound quality is very poor. I wonder if the tune got released in the US or somewhere else in a better form?
Ever heard the original German version? That's my favourite, not the English 1!

All 'n' all, I believe it's time to make a Belgian Disco Compilation!!! :icon_razz:
Anyone any suggestions. This country has many unsung heroes...
- Jean Kluger
- Jack Donder
- Jean-Luc Drion

- Patrick Hernandez
- Night School
- Plastic Betrand
- Amadeo
I have one more thing to add...
Que tal America?
:icon_biggrin:
Yep, but as for a lot of things we are vastly underrated
Speaking of Disco Deutshland (Amazon-U.S. | Amazon-U.K.) however, somebody just tipped this to me. The track is by Joy Fleming, Disco-ish, okay, but the interesting fact in this vid is that the backing vocals you see are the "Birds Of Paris".

OMG!Thank you for this!
I'd always wondered exactly who Joy Fleming was???
All I've known was "The Final Thing" LP she did with Pete Bellotte. Who's US pressing has an anonymous female, under satin sheets, on the cover.
Also, on that LP, she did the original version of "I Only Wanna Get Up And Dance". Which was covered, with huge success, by The Raes, about a year later.
