    Megatron Man

I think everyone agrees the 1981 original is a seminal record, but has anyone heard the 1987 remix?

    If so..............what's it like?

haven't heard the remix, but the original album (and the follow up "Mind Warp") bring back memories of some of the darkest, most underground discos I'd ever been to. "Thank God for Music", "Menergy" and the title track: classic classic classic.

    Totally agree. :)

I haven't heard the '87 remix either. However: There's a 7:57 minute version on the 12 By 12 Patrick Cowley Collection. It's a bit shorter than the earlier (original) versions from '81 and '82 (Fusion) respectively. I am afraid that the version of Megatron Man on the 12 x 12 is just a re-edited full-length version and not the '87 remix, which is one minute shorter I believe. Me, too, would be interested in finding out what's the '87 remix is like.

I am a Patrick Cowley fan and it's more of a re-edit than remix to me. They add a different percussion here and there. I don't dislike it, and have used it to change up a mix. But Megatron Man is one of my favorites of his and the original is great.

I have the 12 inch '87 mix on Megatone Records.

But, you can also buy the '87 mix on a CD single on Unidisc. I have this one also.

It has two remixes by Joseph Watt including the " '87 REMIX ". They clock in at 7:30 and 6:48.

And it also has a 5:25 version of Menergy with Sylvester doing the lead vocal.
