    Lary Sanders

Does anyone remember a dj by the name of Lary Sanders?

I've just recently heard some of his stuff. It's interesting to hear the early stuff as it's more of a black r&b sound vs the breathy eurodisco sound that came out in the later 70's. There isn't any beat mixing as we know it today either. One song fades out and the next one starts.

Nrg-Is this the Lary Sanders that did those fantastic edits
on the Fire Island CD's that Medium Rare Records has? I am
only familiar with those, but the tracks are almost all 1973-ish
and highlight discos early years. Is this a mix that you have heard?

Stay tuned, Lary Sanders's website is just about ready to go online! :icon_razz:

Also, a DJ friend of Lary's recently unearthed a reel to reel tape of Lary spinning a live set in New York City in 1975. I had the good fortune to listened to the set this weekend and the choice of music is very nice and very r&b oriented! NRG, is this the same set you heard?

Hi Keefe, it's probably the same tape.

I didn't know Lary had a set of cd's at Medium Rare.

Hey NRG, Lary gave Medium Rare copies of his "The Sandpiper" and "Planet Disco" series to give out to their customers as they saw fit. These compilations are composed of his reedits of many of the tunes that he played in his sets at the Sandpiper in the early to mid 70s. Watch for his website!
