    $1,000 ! Hugely Expensive CDs

I can hardly believe this, but found CDs auctioned on eBay ending an hour ago in very high bidding prices.

    *R.J.'S LATEST ARRIVAL - HOLD ON (1987)
    US $1,525.00

eBay: R.J.'S LATEST ARRIVAL - HOLD ON 1987 CD super mega rare (item 300105465521 end time May-01-07 23:56:48 PDT)

*CARL LEWIS & ELECTRIC STORM - IDATEN (1985)
    US $861.00
eBay: CARL LEWIS & ELECTRIC STORM - IDATEN 1985 JAPAN CD ONLY (item 300105463197 end time May-01-07 23:47:52 PDT)

These CDs are from the same seller in Japan. Hmm... I think they are rare and don't care who bid on them, but do think too expensive...:icon_eek:

That's the second time I've seen someone bid over $1,000 on that RJ's Latest Arrival disc. Yeah, once you hit 3 figures, its a bit much!!:icon_eek:

Isn't that Carl Lewis the USA Olympic track and field medalist??

    Didn't know he was also a singer.:icon_question:

If it's the same Carl Lewis?

I don't recall anything particularly noteworthy about RJ's latest arrival.

Sure looks like him, even the same haircut :icon_confused:

I noticed both this CDs date back to the begining of this media. Maybe that's why they are "Rare" and expensive???

I remember around this time, 85/86, a DJ friend that was also a South Florida Billboard Reporter used to get from the Labels every week a bunch of exclusive CD singles Promos of current club hits of the day, He didn't care for Cds ( Djs didn't like them - especially at this time with no way to DJ mix with them yet -) and He used them for wall decoration around his apartment walls. (They looked ultra cool at the time .)

I'll bet this CD singles are all rare and hard to come by today, I wish I had taken them off his hands back then (but I didn't care for them either, didn't even owned a player), I think he threw them out when he moved out. What a shame.... :icon_sad: Who knew?????

It is Olympic medalist Carl Lewis' CD made in Japan. In 1980s, he used to be very popular in Japan, and appear on many TV entertainment shows where, for one, I remember he raced parallel with a running robot set on the rail along the race track:icon_smile: The CD's Japanese title 'Idaten' means 'Swift Runner.'

Carl Lewis did the "Going For The Gold" single in 1984 as a kinda promotion tool for the Los Angeles Olympic games. He also had an album out in 1987 entitled "Modern Man" - he should have stuck the running and jumping as his music output was more than terrible :icon_lol:

I wonder why RJ's Latest arrival's output has gotten so expensive. I had no problems finding it over here

LOL. I have never listened to his music yet, but am curious to:icon_razz:. If there are his used CDs at (much) lower price, I might buy.
