Well, she doesn't have much of a voice, the vocoder "I am your automatic lover, automatic lover" gets rather annoying after the third or fourth time in the song and it's as cold as ice.....guess it'll NEVER grow on me.:icon_sad:

Love it lots. :icon_biggrin: Maybe it's not quite as camply brilliant as Sarah Brightman's 'I Lost my Heart...' but it's still fab IMO. The promo video that went with it deserves a special mention with it's well-endowed robot too!:icon_eek:![]()
...ya gotta beat the street......
It's campy, it's sung with so much drama!
I loved it when it first came out and still do. This one has to be played very loud and then it works remarkably well. Strangely enough it always reminds me a little bit of the Who's "Feel Me".
But...let's face it, it's indeed one of those tracks you love or hate.
Should have listened to your gut reaction on this one Dayna !
That cold 'n inhuman voice with its distractingly horrid vocal delivery that drones on and on and makes one finally want to shout "SHUT UP ! "
No ......... not the robot's ......
.........................!!!

Baby, take me
high upon a hillside
high up where the stallion
meets the sun
cannot say i hate it or love it, perhaps smack dab in the middle![]()
I'm often found loitering around the docks when the space ships come in, and Dee Dee is one of the reasons why. Akka B is another with "Queens of Space".
I prefer the version of Sylvia's Automatic Lover.

If you buy this record your life, will be better.
I love it! :icon_cool:
Beyond the campiness of it all, there's that beautiful refrain in there: "..see me, feel me, hear me, love me, touch me.." which shines through and makes it all worthwhile..
Hmmm!
This is a bit of a "guilty pleasure" for me.
I bought the 12" from a Record fair not so long ago (on yellow vinyl to boot)
I LLLLLLLL....Like it a lot
Automatic Lover – Sylvia or Dee D Jackson?
Which one do I prefer?
The first version I was introduced to was the one from Sylvia so I have a sentiment of loyalty to it.
The version from Sylvia also sound less "forged" and artificial to me.
The fun thing is I only own the Dee D Jackson vinyl version...![]()
Dee D.Jackson 05/31/2007 RAI-1 Italian TV:YouTube - Dee D. Jackson - Automatic lover - Meteor man
I love it!
seems that it was covered a couple of times... by Wish in the 80's then more recently by Jay Jay Johanson in 2002
but nothing touches the original
Heres Jay Jay Johanson's version,

IMO not a patch on D. Dee Jackson![]()
