Two Latin Disco tracks i've always liked , both by Mongo Sanctamaria - "Lady Marmalade" & his late 70's early 80's version of "Watermelon Man" on Tappen Zee Records.
Hi,
if such a genre exist.
I don't know many but those 2 have dawned on me.
The Willow Band - Willowman (Epic 1976)
The Final Approach - Que Passa ? (Gold Plate 1976)
I really enjoy their happy mood and it's quite catchy. I think it's all in the way they play the guitar.

Willie Bobo - Always There
Incredible version...
Some "mainstream" songs with latin sound that I like:
Tierra - Latin Disco
Santa Esmeralda - Sevilla Nights /Don't Let me be understood
War - Cinco de mayo
The cd http://www.discomusic.com/cds-more/1051_0_3_0_C/ (Latin Disco) is a good collection of some original and some well known songs in lesser known latin versions, a couple of them mentioned earlier in this thread.
Anyone familiar with DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA's "Hail to the teeth" on Salsoul from 77?
Great storming piece of latin disco
LOVE DON'T HURT PEOPLE, PEOPLE HURT PEOPLE
Favorites:
"Que Pasa/Me No Pop I" by COATI MUNDI
"Mestizo" by JOE BATAAN
"On the road again" by BARRABÁS
Now, "Disco Samba" by TWO MAN SOUND is one of the most disgraceful things that ever saw the face of the Earth.
It don't mean a thing (if ain't got that swing)
Jimmy Sabater: To be with you
Irakere: Baila mi ritmo
Willie Bobo: Fried neckbones and some home fries
...Boogie Boogie Boogie Boogaaaaaay.....
Latino! What a wonderful thing! Music for “forever young”! Very-very high energy grooves! I love latino music not only in disco direction (one of the most interesting in use) but in it’s rather wide determination. First of all latino rhythms and of course bass-playing structure are very interesting for me in JAZZ&FUSION projects. Such projects, for example, like SADE (“Promise” from 1985) and THE MANHATTAN TRANSFER (“Brasil” from 1987) are sounding fantastic! And what a beautiful jazzy thing with bossa nova rhythms “Paroles paroles” from Queen DALIDA and how I love such things!
I can’t forget about the latino progressive rock, which I love very much too: CHANGO, MALO, AVE ROCK, ALACRAN, for example, and especially my most lovely and fantastic from beginning to end DEVADIP CARLOS SANTANA – 1979 – “Silver Dreams Golden Reality”!
Listening modern music I must note that DE PHAZZ is working in very interesting direction using latino arangements in their “Death By Chocolate” from 2001. And modern “latino house trip” like this Agora_Montayo_Joey_Negro_Mix.ogg is a part of my interests in latino grooves too!
And now, please, about my favourite tracks which are shining in my mind every time when I’m talking about latino-atmosphere in disco:
THE SALSOUL ORCHESTRA – Ritzy Mambo
CHOCOLAT’S – Brazilia Carnaval
AZOTO – San Salvador
GIBSON BROTHERS – Cuba
EL TIGRE – Come Back Home
FANTASTIQUE – Musica Fantastica
OTTAWAN – Hello Rio
BARRABA’S - On The Road Again
GILLA – The Girl From Ipanema
LA BIONDA – Bandido
D.D. SOUND – Cafe
LA FLAVOR – Mandolay
REVELACION – The House Of The Rising Sun
CHARO – Ole, Ole
DESTINATION – Destination Theme
RIGHEIRA – Vamos A La Playa
FOXY – Chicabon
P.S.: And what a wonderful and beautiful song about commandante Che Gevara! Excuses, of course I don’t mean the political person (Che was something contradictionary understood figure), but only music&singing… So, I can’t find the words to tell how this ballad is deep-touching my heart to bleed!
