How's the weather in your country?

It's coming up to Christmas time and I wonder what's the weather like in your country and what's it going to be like for Christmas. I see on a lot of American movies that it's always snowy during the Christmas season, is it like that in all parts of USA or is it mainly in the northern half of USA and Canada?

Well in Australia it's going to be one SWEATY hot christmas. Yep it's summer over in the land down under and usually for Christmas us blokes are down to our singlets, shorts and thongs but lately it's been like too hot to even wear a singlet and I've got the fan going at full spin. It's like a SAUNA. Normally summer goes for 3 months but I may as well say summer in Australia starts in October and ends in March, now that's a whoppin' 5 months  .

Unfortunately due to the extreme hot weather New South Wales has copped a shitload of bushfires which in the heat burn out of control :x . Last year was an absolute disaster as hundreds of homes were lost, and lately we've had a shitload of fires burning AGAIN  . And half of these fires are started by fuckin' arsonists which should be called arseholists because they are arseholes    ! They don't give a **** about how much damage they are causing to the forests, to people's homes and even claiming lives, they are 666ers  . I say lock those buggers in jail and throw away the key  !

Also from the heat we've been getting really bad droughts which have lowered the level of our water dams which we have to conserve water and the poor farmers have been getting squat **** lately which has dried up their soil and their crops are dying    . In the past week we have been getting some rain which has helped put out some fires but it's not enough to help the farmers and even when it rains it's still hot.

Anyhow I like summer weather but we really need at least a few rainy days a week as we are in desperate need of water, especially the farmers.

Where I live we've had about six inches of snow.

We won't have summer temperatures here till at least June.

It's cold here, but there is no snow. We had some a couple of weeks ago, but it's all melted now. So, cold and always cloudy, mixed with all the gray concrete of the buildings = recipe for serious seasonal depression.

It's been very warm here in Los Angeles lately. The weather has been unusual for this time of year. It's been like summer weather.

In Argentina, summer's on the horizon and Buenos Aires specially is turning to a "semi-tropical" climate over the years. That means high humidity, hot temperature, almost no wind and a couple of really rainy days from time to time. Not pretty, really; if you cant' go on vacation you end soaked, and nights are just the same.
Now, in my old Mar del Plata city, as in other cities inside the country, weather is "template", with temperature going inbetween 15-28? C. But Argentina, like Brazil, has many weathers going on at the same time. In Chaco and the Puna (far north) it's tropical time with 30? C days in winter. And in the Patagonia you have summers of 10-15? C maximum, with winds that take you away over near desert lands!
The funny thing here is that, with Christmas in full summer and all, we still have the Santa Clauses (Papa Noel here) in red & white thick clothes and boots, we eat nuts and peanuts like you guys in the North! :o That can make you kinda sweaty. I guess the Christmas legend preceded globalisation! :)

    Santa

Well if Santa's gonna come to Australia, he's gonna have to drop his thick red snow gear and throw on a shearer's singlet, stubby footy shorts and thongs and replace his reindeers with 6 white boomers (kangaroos) as Rolf Harris would sing:

"Six white boomers, snow white boomers
Racing Santa Claus through the blazing sun
Six white boomers, snow white boomers
    .. On his Aus-tra-lian run "

Well here's some fantastic news, it's now pissing down rain in the Illawarra region of New South Wales where I live which is fantastic :D :D :D . I hope this will fill up the water dams and help the farmers further inland grow their crops again. I don't know how long this glorious rain will last but I hope we'll get a good amount of rainy days as well as sunny days this summer so it will keep everyone happy. Also it's a bit cooler today than it was in the past week.

    Funkydude,

That must be the same system that came through Adelaide earlier in the week. It dumped some pretty heavy rain. I think we got nearly an inch of rain.

So much for the rain, it only lasted for a few days. Now it is so bloody hot that my house is hotter than a sauna and it's too hot to even wear singlet and shorts. And I'm still boiling hot even though I've got the fan going at full spin, BLOODY OATH! I may as well be living in a coke oven.

    Central Air

I take it you meant home air conditioning, well we don't have that and our house is a housing commission house which we pay rent for. It would cost a few grand to buy an air conditioning system.

    Hey Mate,

You can send some of that heat my way if you like. It's been cold, I mean C-O-L-D for the past two weeks now and today it finally snowed. 7 inches according to the weather forecasters. (Always a good number to start with :D .) Guess I'll be cleaning up the walkway tomorrow morning. I can already feel my lower back howling in protest  .
