    Hi-NRG Fans! Confession Time...........

put your Passion, Record Shack & Unidisc memories to one side and 'fess up...

what was the first record(s) you ever bought?

    Mine was/were:

Boney M - Rivers Of Babylon / Brown Girl In The Ring
    The Specials - Gangsters
Tubeway Army - Are Friends Electric

I'm not gonna count Brotherhood Of Man - Save All Your Kisses For Me (cos I was only 10 and had no taste!) :icon_rolleyes:

Cos if I had to include that one, then I'd have to admit to buying The Wombles Album too :icon_eek:

    I was a child!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Wombles eh ??.. Was that the "non stop megamix" then ?? LOL
Actually, I`m probably not much better.. !! I remember getting some birthday money as a kid and buying this album based on cartoon characters like dastardly & mutley, Penelope pitstop, Rupert Bear, Bugs Bunny etc.. Think I still have it somewhere..
I remember buying the SPACE album after hearing their brilliant "MAGIC FLY".
I think the first 7" single I bought with my pocket money was taht single by a group called RACEY (Think it was called "Some girls will..) lol.

The first "hi-nrg" record I bought was probably DIVINE (You think your a man). I remember bringing it home and driving my dad bonkers by playing it non stop (very loudly). My mum loved it, she always played it when she did the housework !.:icon_lol:

    Eek - fpmsl

YouTube - Top of the pops December 1978 (4)

    I'm crying here!!!! :icon_lol:

My first Hi-nrg 12" was either Marsha Raven or Jessica Williams (1983)

Mind you I did buy I Feel Love 12" in 1982 and Sylvester's Do You Wanna Funk! So perhaps they were the first eh?

First ever record was 'Do The Funky Chicken' by Rufus Thomas, and I still have it.

Didn't start buying records regularly until '71 though, when I got the Glam Rock bug!

That mutated into my ever present love of Heavy Metal, then I got into Hi- Nrg in 1984.

Metal and NRG are still my favourite types of music.

Metal & Hi-nrg? Why does an image of black leather chaps instantly spring to mind :icon_razz:

Made for each other and a natural progression, once the wardrobe was sorted

Haven't heard it, but would love to!

The worst heavy metal cover I heard was Hazell Dean's 'Livin' on a prayer' it just didn't work!

The Finnish band Nightwish did a very good cover of Ankie Bagger's 'Where were you last night', didn't change it much either!
