recently been re-discovering some of the many releases on this popular Italian euro/nrg label. I found a mint copy of LOVE by Lisa Johnson yesterday. a really good track (and a bargain at 25p) :icon_cool:
Many of the TIME releases were popular in the Manchester clubs in the late 80`s and early 90`s...
25p for Lisa Johnson that is a bargain! Used to play loads of Time stuff in the early to mid 90s as stuff above 130bpm was pretty scarce so the Italians were the only ones to cater.
My personal faves from the label are:-
Rudy & Co - Mama Radio
Aleph - Fly To Me & Fire On The Moon
Virgin - Tell Me Why/All Your Love/Only You
Fred Ventura - Wind Of Change/The Years/Lost In Paris/Imagine/Heartbeat
Albert One - Secrets/For Your Love/Hopes & Dreams
Alesis - Steppin' Up
Sophie - Same/Soft Time/My World/The Promise You Made
Gipsy & Queen - Brown Sugar/Action
T.H. Virgin - New Lover
Chester - Hold The Line
Rose - I Wanna Be Your Love/Perfect Time
Lisa Johnson - Say Goodbye/Love
Silver Pozzoli - Love Is The Best
Anika - Precious Love
Vanessa - Why Did You Say I'm Sorry
Linda Ross - Touch Me
Danny Keith - Lean On Me

It's really hot - stop!!! Saaaay: Magnifique!
I don't remember the year, but if you're interested...this track also appears on the 2cd-set "NRG Makeovers 4," which is not bad. It's the last track on the second disc. An energized version of the Armstrong song "What a wonderful world" is on that cd-set as well, which I like very much.

Hi,
Out of the artists above, Aleph, Albert One, Virgin, Sophie, Gipsy & Queen and Rose in particluar were highly popular because of their tunes' merriness in around the late 80s in Japan when the economy here was extremely thriving. Young people, including me at that time, went on a 'disco & dance' spree. But in the beginning of 90s, the bubble economy burst and disco boom also ended.... and then 'club' culture with House and Techno music started after a while.
I think that Japanese people somehow like such a Hi-NRG sound with catchy and slightly melancholy melody. So many Japanese record companies like Pony Cannion, Avex and now extinct Alfa released a lot of Hi-NRG or 'Eurobeat' compilation CDs & Records back then.
I believe this genre of dance music has always been very popular in the Japanese msuic market. I remember reading an article in the late 80`s about Pete Waterman & Ian Levine taking some of their artists on tour in Japan due to the huge popularity of the UK HI-NRG music.
Danny Keith: 'Lean On Me' what a track!
Still play it to this day.
