Okay let's clear this, Black Riot wasn't REALLY a Band, at the begin of the 'nineties Todd Terry was recording under several names: Orange Lemon, Royal House and Black Riot, There was a point that Little Louie Vega understood the potential of the sampled products of Mr Terry, that till that moment were having very underground release (for obvious problems in clearing the samples) for small indipendent labels, so it provide Todd with a singer: Peggy Harley and ask for permission to release the track on the (at the time) unused for long time label West End, I'm not sure how much The original people from the label had anything to do with the track itself. Black Riot's "Just Make That Move" was born>
Now, for what is the sample used, let me quote:
"Standing at the machine every day for all my life
I'm used to do it and I need it
It's the only thing I want
It's just a rush, push, cash"
The line is stolen by that MASTERPIECE of Electronic dance called "BOSTICH" by YELLO
and funnily enough if you hear the all track you'll find another VERY famous line : "Everybody be Somebody" sampled by Ruffneck for their omonymus track.
Hope I've been of any help.
Have a SAMPLADELIC time!!!
