RIP Barry. Sorry I never heard of you.
You all know Bonds like Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig but the actor who played ol' 007 on screen first was Barry Nelson who passed away last week at the age of 88.
Perhaps he's better know from movies like "Cactus Flower", "The Shining" and "Airport" but he portrayed "Jimmy Bond" in the 1954 live television series "Casino Royale" on CBS. The series were axed and eight years later Connery got the part in "Dr. No"
Nelson once said: "I don't waste too much time on that fact, Connery was the best sollicitant for the role"!
