Cosmic Love & Kisses From SIRIUS & DARKTUNES
Hi Sirius , describe BECKIE BELL , COOK COUNTY , CRISTAL , JOEL DIAMOND , ELITE , and DIVA , if this is not too much askin , thanx RU :D
**Dreamin\' about those disco lights**
Hi Sirius. Could u describe the Ruth Waters track please? This is on my 'wants list' from 1979! (My favourite year for gay disco)
...ya gotta beat the street......
Dear Ruoffended!
Here the descriptions...
1)BECKIE BELL"Superqueen"
A fast and more percussive, mostly instrumental track with
a touch of HI-NRG and DiscoDollies in the background.
Prod. by Pierre Jaubert/1980/9:10/Uniwave.
2)COOK COUNTY"Pinball Playboy(Playboy Theme)"
Although it was released on Motown this one is very
untypicale. DiscoDollies in sleazy PornoStyle...Prod. by
Vic Ceasar/1979/5.35
3)CRISTAL"Phonic"
This one is really great. From the Soundtrack of CERRONE´s
"Brigade Mondaine", but in a special long version. Electronic
Disco at it´s best...if you are into Giorgio or Space, this
one is maybe better. FrenchSpaceDisco.Prod. by CERRONE
7.25.
4)JOEL DIAMOND"Music Machine(In And Out)"
A typical Casablanca-Album...commercial and very danceable.
Sounds expensive and luxurious. Also other tracks on the
album"Experience" are playable. Prod. by JOEL DIAMOND/79/
5.09.
5)ELITE"Poppers"
This one seems to be from Italy and sounds very GayCore-
like with a touch of American Gypsy or Village People. They
are really singing about Amylnitrate!!! On the A-Side there
is "Boys On Hollywood Boulevard". Prod. by TONY CARRASCO
Derby Rec./1979/Disco Mix/Long Version.
6)DIVA"Double Trouble"
Prod. by Joe La Greca and arranged by Denis Le Page.
A typical early HI-NRG track like LIME or MARGARET
REYNOLDS. Matra Rec./7.23/1981
O.K. I hope I informed you well...
Cosmic Love & Kisses From SIRIUS & DARKTUNES
Dear Steely Dan!
RUTH WATERS"Never Gonna Be The Same" is a classical
GayAnthem ... fast with wonderful string-arrangement and
a fantastic dark and deep voice from Ruth. Prod. by JOHN
DAVIS & his Monster Orchestra. The 12"-Version is 8.24 long
and different than the AlbumVersion. The european 12" has
been released on KARMA in 1979. If you are into nostalgic-
melancholic but uplifting DivaDiscoSound, this one is for you!

You did A1 , thanx RU. 8)
**Dreamin\' about those disco lights**
Thankyou sirius. That sounds right up my alley! I adore the John Davis sound. I think I heard somewhere that Ruth Waters is the mother of early 90's diva Crystal Waters; can u confirm this? They certainly both have dark & deep voices don't they?
...ya gotta beat the street......
Dear steely dan!
Sorry, I don´t know, but maybe our friends.
Another question: Is there some relationsship to RAY SIMPSON
(2nd LeadVocal from Village People) to ASHFORD & SIMPSON,
because I have an album, which has been produced by the
duo.
Does Thelma Houston has any relationsship to WHITNEY and
CISSY?
Maybe you know that, or our friends.
Cosmic Love & Kisses From SIRIUS & DARKTUNES
I believe Ray Simpson is Valerie Simpson's brother.
The rumor mill always tried to put the three Houstons together saying Thelma was an 'aunt' but, to my knowledge, she is not related to Cissy and Whitney. Thelma Houston was born in Mississippi, a southern US state while Cissy and Whitney are from New Jersey, up north where I am.
All this could be meaningless as Cissy Houston's birth name is Emily Drinkard. They could be related by marriage and I can't find anything that says yes or no.

Steely,
I remember having read somewhere that Crystal Waters does indeed have a very musical heritage. Ethel Waters was her great-aunt or something like that. And Ethel, of course, was one of the great early jazz singers of the 1920's and later a star on stage and in movie musicals ("Taking A Chance On Love" was a hit of hers). Don't know about the relationship between Crystal and Ruth Waters though.
