    TTF or T.T.F.?

I recently stumbled on two tracks by a group called TTF or T.T.F. One track is called "If the world could love" (a ballad) and the other is called "Surprise! Surprise!". It is the second track that I especially love because it ends with the female singer giving her boyfriend his marching orders - over the phone, and it is hilarious (unless you are that guy...). I do not know if she wrote her lyrics or if she improvised it, but she is FANTASTIC.

The music is great too. So I searched this websites database but no matches. I then followed the GEMM link to see if they have anything. There are a number of listings, none of which match the track names above.

There is an album by TTF from 1979, which is called "Tomorrow, Today, Forever" on RSO. They go for hefty sums of money ranging from $38 to $ 198 !! But alas no track listing, and besides I don't know I would pay that much in general.

I do want to know however if this is the same TTF of the two tracks mentioned above. And if you know anything more about this band I would love to hear. Who are the singers? What is HER name? Where were they from? Was this a one time effort or did they release more albums? Who produced? Any famous names on the credits? To quote "Number 5": Need input! :icon_mrgreen:

Any replies as usual much appreciated.

Never came across them ..... I was going to ask what TTF stands for .... but if their 1979 album was called TODAY TOMORROW FOREVER ......

Appears they could've just gone by "T" though ....

I have a copy of the T.T.F. LP, on RSO (RS-1-3063); interestingly enough, several tracks are arranged by Fred Wesley, of JB fame.

Unfortunately, the tracks mentioned aren't there. The tracklist goes like this:

    Side 1
    1. It's a groove (keep on dancin') / 3:47
    2. Astro boogie / 4:27
    3. Mad house / 5:24
    4. Blipped (all over myself) : 5:15

    Side 2
    1. Taking me higher / 4:40
    2. I'm for you / 5:19
    3. It's your love / 4:57
    4. Get on down (to the disco) / 4:15

Production is by: Fred Torchio & Angelo Jordan

Band members are: Alton Hudson, Ronald Broomfield, Allison Brunson jr., Alfredo Ramos, Deborah Peevy, Darwin Brett Brown, Willie Brown jr.

I'm listening to the record as I'm writing, and I must say this appears to be one of those records I bought among quite a few others on a trip back home to L.A., probably listened to only once, and forgot about. I think I bought the Tasha Thomas LP during that trip, which was so overwhelming I disregarded this one.

Well, that's a shame, and I'm realizing that as the tracks go by. "It's a groove" is a killer dance track with a catchy tune. "Blipped" is pretty good as well. The general style reminds me of that "Dream Express" LP, with the weird wigs. Some tracks are reminiscent of Parliament, disco with a strong funky accent and space-synth effects.

I'll add this to the vault, and include more specifics from the cover, as there are some...

follow up: This entry has just been added; it should appear as soon as Bernie's finished with the Sunday Comics...

I see they deleted your emerald-engraved, solid platinum LP from their database; they only have an ordinary vinyl copy left, for $51.75...

Thanks Chris and others... I will check out the vault later on. Is the album you mention the one from 1979? Because if it is, I am clearly looking for another album. The two tracks that I have do not sound very Fred Wesley like. Its more groove than funk if that makes any sense.

I hope someone can help out!

Yes, this is from 1979. But the Fred Wesley is anecdotic in this case. It IS disco funk in general; some of the tracks are closer to the style you seem to depict.

But the 2 tracks you mentioned aren't here. This is also the only LP by this group I've seen.... which doesn't mean they didn't make another LP, or just a 12" follow-up to this one...

    Any credits on your single?

The two tracks you mentioned come an lp they released in th fall of 1981 on the Gold Coast label. The album was called "Suprise Suprise" and the lead single was a track called Mighty Fine which was a sizable hit for the group.
