I used to do some Extra work back in the late '70s and early '80s. It was well paid, easy to do, knackering (usually a 6.a.m. start) if I'd been DJing the night before or had to DJ the same night and ultimately damned boring.
It usually consisted of sitting around doing absolutely nothing for hours and hours.
The most famous person I got to 'work with' was Lee Remick in a couple of shots for a movie (probably a TV movie) where we had to pretend we were evacuating a ship that had been hit by a torpedo during WW11. I remember that those guys who were prepared to jump over the side of the ship into the water were paid an extra £20.00 (at the time my usual DJ earnings were £20-25 per night).
