Does anyone remember this song by French singer Rose Laurens?

This song has a cult following and is a big fave in certain circles

, but was never a real favorite of mine. Just wondered what others thought.

I love this song and still have the French 12" single. Bought this back in '86 when it first came out over at Rock & Soul or Vinyl Mania. At 116 BPM it fits in just about anywhere and Rose's vocals are so sensual with the heavy bottom end holding things together. Highly recommended. I'll have to pop this on again now.

I recently acquired a Rose Laurens 12" called 'La Nuit' when I was on holiday in Gran Canaria. It's also from 1986 but is more Hi-Nrg in style than 'American Love'. I'd never heard it b4 so had to but it out if curiosity as I always thought American Love was interesting if not an all-time classic. Its sung entirely in French as well, unlike A.L.

I recently found a remix which I downloaded (I can t remember where from) which is great. It keeps the rhythm and the tempo but adds little touches, there is even a sax playing towards the end.

i LIKE rose laurens but do not really like American love...try and give a listen to "Mamy Yoko" or "Africa" which are far far far better songs...BTW...pretty sure she is french canandian....and she is still quite popular in french speaking worlds...i bought her "best of cd" not too long ago in Paris.
if like sultry french chantueses check Vicktor Lazlo also..from Belgium..big around 85 or so...had some club hits and looked killer in thierry mugler gowns on her album covers.
