So which records did you buy in the seventies based on the sleeve photo/artwork, name of title or artist and without knowing the song? Did you keep the record or add it to your collection or did you trash it because the track was too horrible?
Here's one of my 7-inch records I bought in 1979 (year of release); label: Telefunken. I didn't know what the song was about, and I never heard it before. Bought it based on the photo and name of the group :icon_mrgreen: :
I was positively surprised. Side 1: A nice disco track (it very much sounds like the group CHILLY). The track on side 2 is a slow tune, but also very nice. I still have the record today.
Eramus Hall-Your love is my desire
That decision was based on rarity, date, style, and label. I figured it was rare funk from the late 70's and the Cd pressing was at a very good price and new it would appreciate if I didn't like it.
Breakwater-self entitled and Splashdown
I held out for awhile but someone who I trusted said they sounded original and were as important to funk as the major players. In 2000, there were no samples available and I spent $50 to obtain both Japanese Cds combined and was pleasantly surprised.
