Not that I know of. Of course there were charts in the music and teenager magazines, e.g., top100, bestsellers, etc. but there were no specific NRG charts. I might be wrong, but hey I'm ready to take some advice from someone who knows better. I don't recall seeing strict high energy charts in Germany. I for one subscribed to the bi-weekly Dance Music Report for a couple of years in the eighties ... and my eyes were always on the U.K., the U.S., Canada, the Benelux and South European countries and sometimes Switzerland as far as new NRG or Italo releases were concerned.
I used to walk into a record store and went through the maxis that were on the shelves. I think this is how everybody did it here. Sometimes when there was no opportunity to listen to the (newly arrived) records in the store, I selected the records by the labels (zyx, Long Island Sounds, etc., etc.) producer or artist names or simply by the cover photo - which resulted in a small catastrophy sometimes, but only sometimes, after the record was unwrapped and played at home.![]()
