I was in Vegas a week ago and I commented there that I sensed a change in the wind .... young guys dressed much more nicely .... sweaters .... dress shirts .... aged jeans /slacks everywhere... no pants hanging below the ass ....didn't hear rap blasting from passing cars ....did hear some rap coming out of some clubs .... but moreso techno/ lounge disco ....
The one couple of guys I did notice strutting in full baggy rap gear looked out of place ... cartoony ....

I think it is fading ......but the problem : what is there to replace it ????

That's good news !!! -I sense EVERYTHING has a NEGATIVE vibe these days, TV, clubs, Music, stores, malls --You never feel COMFORTABLE..THE ONLY TIME YOU FEEL RELAXED IS WHEN 70'S MUSIC IS ON....instead, radios/ tannoys blurring out security 'announcements' etc. etc.. it seems 'encouraged' as though it helps set the mood of the countries...War, occupation, etc. etc..maybe the new 'enemy' will be revealed to us soon :icon_twisted: ...what will be the next DEVIL music :icon_evil: ..bangra ??
I long for the HAPPY DAYS to return !!!...most DISCO records were HAPPY !!!...although wasn't that denigrated by some at the time :icon_mad:

BigM, thx for that article. I hope so because I'm soooooo tired of that bull.

You know there's something wrong with those guys (and I'm specifically talking about the gangstastuff). I'm on My Space and last week my godchild ask me to add an Italian rapper. I was in a hurry, did not really check his page and then....

That guy began sending me mails. The first one for thanking me that I added him and then a lotta of crap on women and weapons and that a society should be based on violence and the law of the streets. As they were in Milanese dialect which I fully understand, I soon knew who I was dealing with because he used certain terms (I'm not going into that). I immediately banned that guy.

Let's face it, those guys are just polluting our youth.

    That's the 1st remark.

Secondly, what do those people add to music in general?? Stolen riffs and beats, a lotta humbug. Like that Puffydiddlywop. That guy was just taking every old hit and wobbled over it. I'm sorry, that's not talent. That's just good bizniss.

Rap started great (Sugar Hill Gang, Kurtis Blow, ...). There still are interesting Hip Hop records but they get rare.

So, maybe it's indeed time to go now and let a new vibe conquer the world.

We need something new and we need it now! I bought 2 (two) new releases in 2006 so the record industry is clearly not making money on my expense.

Let people sing on records (and on My Space there's a lot of upcoming talent, I can tell you that).

So, Brothers and Sisters, let's live in hope!

I'd rather drink draino! than listen to thiose type of child abuser's, because in a sense that negative stuff abuses the innocence of the child and subverts them to a bad tune!!, there is good and great rap that i love from the past, but it is very few and far between. i also dislike the over malignment (by the media) of the 1980's i just don't understand that? and giving a false blurred impression to our youbg, also no one goes on about any other decade quite as carping as this.

but i am glad rap is on its way OUT!. BRING BACK THE SYNTH BRING BACK THE SYNTH!!!

Though music sales are down overall, rap sales slid a whopping 21 percent from 2005 to 2006, and for the first time in 12 years no rap album was among the top 10 sellers of the year

Yes i too would like guitar oriented music to ease up a little, IT AINT TOO MODERN OR CONTEMPORARY. sandra, in the 80s music was definately progressive but now they use all the technology to sound "string guitar and real drum like" to the cleanest nth degree! it is sickening. please die rap music, subside.... climb up on your bunk and SLEEP HONEY!!!.
