    LIME - Caroline album

    Hello everybody,

I have nearly everything from LIME with one exception: The album called "Caroline" and I am thinking about purchasing it. After it was released (don't remember the year) I listened to some of the tracks including the title song (Caroline) in a music store, but wasn't very thrilled and decided not to buy it.
Does anyone have this album? Is it any good or are there any good tracks on it (besides Caroline) you would recommend?

I would be keen to hear about this album.. The last LIME album I purchased was LOVE FURY way back in 2000. To be honest I was not very impressed with it...

The album should have been HUGE.

CAROLINE opens with the title track ; house beats and rap [It is my least favorite track on the CD but better than the remixes included at the end of it].The JACK mix will make you gag...LOL

TAKE MY HEART AWAY,TRUE [SURRENDERED LOVE],TOGETHER LOVE,PRECIOUS LOVE are traditional HiNRG LIME classics. Very very good.

My absolute favorite NRG masterpiece has got to be NEVER SAY NEVER with its very upbeat groove.
HOT DANCER,WEB OF DESIRE offer a somewhat different sound with elements of house and semi-freestyle inserted.

It is very good as a whole.Funny but I found out about it when I visited a second-hand CD store back in 1991.Even here in Montreal ; the album did nothing and only got mentioned in HiNRG columns.

Do you remember LIME's album released under the name STEP BY STEP ??

Thanks for the detailed information, Kris. I may purchase it if I see it somewhere (on the web). As for the Step by Step album, I vaguely heard about it, but I have never seen it anywhere. I understand the album is rated as one of LIME's best albums and that a fantastic remix or remake or "Your Love" is included in the track list. Was it a Canadian release and in which year was it issued? Do you know if it's still available? Can you recommend it?

I found this one quite by accident.YOUR LOVE had been included on a local dance compilation and I was quite surprised to find out ; that it was LIME so I was hooked.
Then I found a CD5 single with the track DON'T LET IT GET YOU DOWN then the album. The cover shot is a pair of stepping shoes with some pink touches but the backdrop is LIME green !!! [I'm going on memory there because I no longer have the jacket ; only have the actual CD.]

It certainly is one of their most satisfying albums ever.
REASON OF MY LIFE by STEP BY STEP.
Released in 1994 on the Canadian label FUTURE-TELL / BGM label. [BGM and not BMG ; it was a small dance label based in Montreal.]
    # FTCD-1340

The album is quite solid. It's classic LIME but with the 1994 flavor [La BOUCHE/Le CLICK and other MORE & MORE sound alikes].

    Tracklist
1-DON'T LET IT GET YOU DOWN [First single off the album]
2-IF YOU NEED SOME LOVE [An ACE OF BASE copy - Not my fave]
3-COME AND GET IT [Very CAPTAIN HOLLYWOOD PROJECT sounding]
4-ALL OF YOU [A very good ROBIN S /STONEBRIDGE copy]
5-STAY THE NIGHT [My favorite ; Denis & Denyse at their best]
6-HOW DO YOU FEEL [Great NRG track]
7-REASON OF MY LIFE [NRG with a slight techno influence]
8-IT'S A CELEBRATION [HiNRG with a clear DEPECHE MODE flavor]
9-ARE YOU READY [Classic LIME NRG with a beepy electronics]
10-YOUR LOVE [HiNRG with a slight house touch but not really house. So many elements from the classic 12in are there yet it sounds modern and quite good.]

The length of the songs are from 5 to 7 minutes long.
    Hope this helps.

I just ordered a sealed, new copy of the Caroline album (cd). :icon_mrgreen:

YES, your review and description of the tracks on Step By Step are very helpful. I saw the sleeve of the cd a few minutes ago. I'll have a look for this album.

We shall see. I'll keep you informed and will let you all (Kris and you) know what I think about the album once it arrives here. I listened to some of the tracks over 10 years ago and I think there was at least one track on that I cd l liked, but I do not remember which one it was. At that time I didn't want to buy the whole album and pay a lot of money just because of this one track, but now things have changed.....haha. If I think it's bollocks, I'll say so here in this thread. So, stay tuned...

    Re: LIME - Caroline album

    Hiya Neil et al,

The album arrived here today and I'm listening to it as I type. More or less, Kris "reviewed" the album already (see quote below) and I'd like to take the opportunity to send greetings from Germany to Canada for providing a description of the tracks on the Caroline cd.
The title track "Caroline" and its various mixes on the cd are the tracks I like least. Well, I ought to say that I DON'T like the different "Caroline" tracks AT ALL - with exception of the hook (line) and the way "Caroline" is presented and sung (typical LIME). If this track had been produced in real hi nrg format it would have been a great tune. Sadly there are too many rap (and house) elements included in "Caroline."
I didn't even listen to the Caroline tracks from beginning to end - they sound too awful.

However, there are some nice tracks on that cd, e.g., Take my heart away, True, Never say never - which are traditional LIME classics - Kris said that already.

Overall it's a matter of taste whether or not one wants to buy this album. I do not view this album as one of LIME'S best releases.

Thanks for the info Michael/Chris. Sounds like you have very mixed feelings about this release. I will probably give it a miss.
