The Crown Heights Affair originally released their fantastic album "Dreaming a Dream" on De-Lite in 1975![]()
, and, later, "Foxy Lady", with all the exact same tracks, and credited as having been released the same year. I never knew why...

There are a couple of songs I can think of that were put out by an artist twice, with the second time taking off.
One is Keep Smilin' by Carrie Lucas. It was released in 1979 on her Portrait Of Carrie lp. But it originally appeared on her 1977 Simply Carrie lp and was titled I Gotta Keep Dancin'.
Another is Debbie Jacobs Hot Hot(Give It All You Got). It is on her 1979 Undercover Lover album and again on the 1980 High On Your Love lp.
Any others?:icon_question:

I can think of Thelma Houston's " saturday night, sunday morning", first on her 1979 "Ready to roll" album, and also included on her second 1979 album "Ride to the rainbow", but with a different mix.![]()
Not strictly disco, more 80s -- West End Girls by the PSB was originally released in 1984 (I think on the Bobcat label) and then re-released again in 1985 when it took off.
Also, wasn't FGTH Relax originally released in 1983, then again in 1985 when it became a hit?
"Make me believe in you....show me that love can be true...."
How about Nikki French's "Total Eclipse of the Heart?"
Didn't Bonnie Tyler sing this one as well or did she even sing the original track?
Cameo's excellent "Find my way", found first on "Cardiac Arrest" in 1977
,
then on "Secret Omen", as a longer, very different version in 1979.

Baby, take me

high up where the stallion

well, if you'd consider remixes to be songs being released by the same artist more than once, then there'd be hundreds. Heck, Jody Watley, Bobby Brown and Paula Abdul have released remix albums consisting of nothing but songs that were released before
The Gamble and Huff track "Don't Leave Me This Way" was originally recorded by Harold Melvin and the Bluenotes (feat. Teddy Pendergrass) back in 1975 on Philadelphia International. Then a year later in 1976 Thelma Houston recorded the song on her Anyway You Like It LP on Motown in the process making the song a major hit. Both versions are stunning. Long live the Philly sound.
The Gap Band released 'I Dont Believe That You Wanna Get Up & Dance' & it flopped but when they re-released it a year later re-titled 'Oops Upside Your Head' it was a huge hit (in the UK, along with a silly dance craze.:icon_rolleyes: )
...ya gotta beat the street......
