Did anyone else have a perm that outgrew ONE side quicker that the other ??
it was reffered to as a 'TILTED PERM' - good name for a group ?

Yes in 1985 i had a lop sided loose big curl dulcia perm. and it was quite nice, i had it shaved graduated a bit like an "eton crop" and it was copper and titian blonde gold highlights itrh a good long fringe or "bangs" as americans call em!, i was a hairdresser in a very modern salon at the time so it still looks good looking back at the photo, i know there are poor examples of this.

Hey T, were you one of those hairdressers that worked in a BIG empty space with mirrors, and black tiles everywhere....we had LOADS of these hairdressing shops open up and they were LARGE and Chic at the same time, but soemehow very wrong...they were usually converted department stores and thw water would invariably go cold half way thro' a wash !!!
The perms would end uplooking like Boney M's Bobby after prolonged use of the Afro Comb - Brown one piece or Metal forked Fold-ups...Also the hair care product Insette was used to keep it in place,....I LOVED the smell of Insette so much I bought a can of it just to sniff a few years back :icon_lol: ....It was a lovely perfumey smell, but would set your curls like ROCK.
I used to go to Herbert in Liverpool...he is a TV 'star' now, but he still owns salons, and used to own a club called Hollywood in Liverpool....:icon_lol:

no ours was actually modern enogh and quite welcoming.
we had it done in a morocann style with broight matt colours and very little tiling with star trk shairs lol...we used serums and sillouette and redken rita rusk products.
and thermostyling perms the ones that heated up on your head in the really cool packaging....hey do you remember indola farandol semi permanent colours? they were a laugh they washed out three years later..
you always here people now adays saying "oh back in the 80s all we had was gel mousse and really hard hairspray" Bolloks!1 we had really good modern products that have filtered through today back then like straightening serums and cloured shampoos fro different hair and we learned how to slice and shatter cut in 1984 yes 1984 along with new razoring teqniques i used to by that book orovision do you remember that? it was really cool but for love nor money can i finds it any where on the internet at all and that was a fab publication.....

no you see my mum owned it and i was 12 in 85 and i worked there getting my training from a young age after school everyday, so i know things were not as "groovy" as people try to make out these days. i loved it and i did it for years.
i am not a hairdresser anymore, i am a musician and home maker.
