Morning' by Al Jarreau is disco ???

Kraftwerk is disco ??? Disco Lady/Johnnie Taylor is disco ??? Another Star/Stevie Wonder is disco ??? It's polemic, I guess. Better don't touch.

    But I think Mornin'/Al Jarreau
(1983) is disco, a r&b disco, a late disco. What do you think ???

If this is the song where he sings in the bridge ---

I THINK I CAN/LIKE ANY MAN/REACH OUT MY HAND/AND TOUCH THE FACE OF GOD

then, "no", I don't think it's disco. Jazz/fusion maybe, but not a true club song.

Marcio, I would agree with Nick that the song is jazz fusion....at its best.....!

as a fan who owns probably every LP/cassette/cd of Jarreau's, I would have to say that his "Boogie Down" from the same album is probably his most "disco-fied" song that he ever recorded....and one that I still play a lot to this day.

In the UK Al Jarreau was played in discos. Not a lot, but certain jocks and venues did programme his stuff for a while.

Day By Day was just about their biggest UK pop hit, and just about their most twee record too. Nearly all Shakatak's singles were very poppy in nature after late '81/early '82, or thereabouts. Before that the jazz funk guys were really into them.
