As a Montreal native ; I know this one firsthand.
JADE turned into NANCY MARTIN for her hit CAN'T BELIEVE then became NANCY MARTINEZ for her string of hits in 1986-87.

Does anybody know if Jade, who brought us "I`m gonna get your love" in the very early eighties, sang any other songs or had any follow-on HI NRG hits?

KRIS (or David?) -- Thank you so very much for this info and the link. I didn`t know that Jade "turned into" Nancy Martin(ez). How do the two other single releases sound? Can you recommend them? I must admit I never really paid attention to the name Nancy Martin and the associated releases.
In August of 82 BILLBOARD reviewed NANCY MARTIN's single CAN'T BELIEVE : its smooth electronic groove and clean voicing recall GINO SOCCIO's best productions. It is economical polished and devilishly catchy."
It's a very good low-key performance.Economical because of its sparse all-electronic arrangement.Came out on the very small indie NEIGE label from Montreal.
Funny fact ; I only realized that JADE was NANCY until I saw the jacket with NANCY MARTINEZ sporting a FARRAH FAWCETT flip on the cover.
But listening to JADE , NANCY MARTIN and NANCY MARTINEZ back to back ; you just can't help but notice they're one & the same.

I love Nancy Martinez but the singles I've heard from her like "For Tonight" and "Move Out" were Freestyle a la the Cover Girls or Sweet Sensation. Great stuff but not Hi-NRG. I've never heard the Jade track though, I'll have to add it to my list.

Can't Wait by Nancy Martinez is a corker of a hi-nrg tune![]()
NANCY MARTINEZ' first Canadian album was called LAY IT DOWN and was released on the MATRA label. It's full of HiNRG tracks. TAKE IT SLOWLY and SO EXCITED are from that album produced by JOE LaGRECA.
When she returned on Atlantic ; she adopted a Freestyle influenced sound. But some of the tracks were also played in NRG clubs.MOVE OUT was also very punchy and popular in gay clubs.
On her UNPREDICTABLE album ; she had a song called I WILL MAKE IT UP and BILLBOARD commented on how GIORGIO MORODER sounding it was.
SAVE YOUR LOVE FOR ME is also available in a very NRGetic club mix.
In 1997 ; she switched sounds and released this very ALANIS influenced album.

She then released a jazz / standard album ; a few months ago I saw her on a Canadian TV show and she was performing her FOR TONIGHT on a "disco themed" special.

The LA VIE EN ROSE/SUNSHINE REGGAE single was a huge hit in Canada back in 1984.
The track is a medley of the 2 songs ; LA VIE EN ROSE is the GRACE JONES version [very very similar] then ALLEN HARRIS does SUNSHINE REGGAE and for a while it goes back forth.
The 10 minutes version is pretty much 2 x 5 minutes long songs tacked together.

Thanks for the info Kris. that version of LA VIE EN ROSE sounds interesting![]()
The Jade track also appears on a High Fashion Dance Music LP from 1983 - much too short though. All tracks were exclusively remixed by Ben Liebrand for this non-stop remix album.

JADE was in 1982. Funny to read that she released 2 follow-ups as JADE.
One of them ; HOLD YOUR HORSES [Wonder if it's a FIRST CHOICE cover ?].
Later that year NANCY MARTIN released CAN'T BELIEVE
NANCY MARTINEZ' first release on MATRA came out in 1983 [SO EXCITED the 12in and the album LAY IT DOWN.]

About a year after "I'm gonna get your love" came out, I saw a UK 7" single of a remake of "Bobby's girl" by a girl called 'Jade' and the picture on the cover was the same girl on the pic sleeve of "I'm gonna get..." so I always assumed...!
If you're a BIG fan of JADE's "I'm Gonna Get Your Love", get your hands on the (Hot Tracks)Hot Classic Vol. 8 version.
Edited and mixed, it takes the song to it's joyous limit.
Just do it. ('nuff said...)

I would have a listen to the Nancy album that Atlantic put out. There's a non-dance track called "Without Love" that I think is amazing.
When I met Nancy years ago, I mentioned how much I loved the song and she proceeded to serenade me with it.
I proceeded to almost have a coronary.

"Crazy Love" off that LP is a major favourite of mine.
