Boystown Gang - Ain't No Mountain High Enough/Remember Me

    Hi to Everybody:

In 1981 I went to USA and I was in Miami. I was in a shopping and listened in a record store for the first time the Boystown Gang's Ain't no Mountain High Enough/Remember Me. Immediatetly I asked "Which record is playing?", they answered me, but I was unabled to buy it because they had only one LP. I was disapointed...

Well I went to another record store and finally bought that LP :D :D .

In 1998 I saw at Amazon the compilation CD released thought Hot Records Productions and they say that version of Ain't No.../Remember Me was remastered from the original tapes :D . This is not true  , because the CD version is slightly (as a matter of fact completely) different from the LP version :x .

Any explanation??? Where do I find the same LP version but on CD?

    Cheers,

Yes, Hot Productions has lied about this on many a release. "Remastered from the original tapes" that is, tapes made off a worn-out vinyl copy using a DJ cartridge.

Anyway, Unidisc has several Boystown Gang releases out there. I think they've got the original albums plus bonus tracks, as well as a compilation or two. I'm sure one of them must have the version you're looking for!

Unidisc sometimes does crappy CDs made from cassettes or needle drops, but at least they don't lie about it.

To anyone interested in old Moby Dick stuff:

I recently got an e-mail from Will Smith, who was a president and executive producer at Moby Dick. He added this info at he end of the e-mail that might be of interest to some of you:

"If you're interested I still have a lot of test pressings from all of our groups as well as colored vinyl, and first copies--still wrapped of just about everyone else we recorded.

I'll probably put it on Ebay unless someone who really wants them shows up".

    Will's e-mail is : theotherwillsmith@msn.com

    Tel him marky sent ya.

The Unidisc has the full lenght version (12:40) and the 12'' version (15:10) but, you know, never say something definitive about time in disco.
