Maybe Rhythm heritage - Theme from SWAT could fall into that category.
I'm looking for some early 70's funky car chase and cop show songs that have some cool guitar wah wah along with funky tambourines and I was wondering if anyone knows of some cool songs of the early 70's with that sort of style?
Here are some songs I know of so far:
Curtis Mayfield - Junkie Chase 1972
Isaac Hayes - Theme From Shaft 1971
O.C. Smith - Blowin' Your Mind 1972
Johnny Pate - You Can't Even Walk In The Park 1973
Willy Dynamite - Willy Chase 1974
Isaac Hayes - In Persuit Of The Pimpmobile 1974
Bar-Kayes - Son Of Shaft 1972
and a few others.
Maybe Rhythm heritage - Theme from SWAT could fall into that category.
If you buy this record your life, will be better.
Hi Disco1999, I already have this song but thanks for tip off anyway.
What eurodisco is to disco EUROCRIME is to blaxploitation. The soundtracks of the mostly Italian films like VIOLENT NAPLES and BIG GUNS combined Lalo Schifrin riffs from Peter Yates’s BULLITT (1968) and later sounds by Isaac Hayes etc. with bossa novas and europop to great effect. Eurocrime tracks have a cult following and you can find re-realeses on both vinyl and cd. Check out comps BERETTA 70 and PIOMBO ROVENTE on Plastic label for shootout tunes by Guido and Maurizio de Angeliis, Francesco de Masi, Piero Picconi and Ennio Morricone. The French STEREO ULTRA has O.K. CHICAGO by Resonance, with siren sounds and gunshots, plus cuts like KIDNAPPING and SEXOPOLIS. The invaluable EASY TEMPO series (vols 1-10, Right Tempo label) has more of the same as do the MO’PLEIN 3000 records. From England, get the ultracool Roy Budd ost for GET CARTER. Then grow sideburns.
"Car chase" from "fear is the Key" O.S.T(1972,Roy Budd) an excellent jazz - funk 11 minute track
Have you heard the OST for Across 110th Street? Written by Bobby Womack, it's full of orchestration and guitars. Roy Budd I agree is another one to search for. His ST for the UK movie Who Dares Wins has some great wah wah in it.

It seems to be what you are looking for.
Check out Dennis Coffey & The Detroit Guitar Band tunes like Scorpio &Theme from Enter The Dragon. His brand of instrumental guitar was the early 70's sound I think your looking for and was well suited for movie soundtracks :D
Hi Funky Dude
You could check out the Youngblood OST by War, the track Flying Machine was huge on the Rare Groove scene in London in the 80's and the drums are much sampled in house.
Also the Short Eyes OST by Curtis Mayfield is good. There were a couple of volumes of Funky Soundtracks which I think must have been bootlegs but would be well worth tracking down for what you are after. They included bits of speech from the films as well lots of chase music.
And Resonance - Yellow Train / OK Chicago sounds right up your alley!
these soundtracks are worth checking out
for the atmospherics and mood although not all contain
wahwah guitars or funky tambourines.
Quincy Jones -OST 'In the heat of the night' especially 'Chiefs' drive to mayor' or 'shagbag, hounds & harvey'
Quincy Jones -OST 'Money' especially 'Moneyrunner'
OST Demolition Man -'opening theme'
Melvin van Peebles & Earth Wind & Fire -'sweet sweetback's baadassss song' Original Cast album especially 'The man tries running this usual game etc.'
and last but not least check out the wah wah guitar and tambourines on the classic 'Baretta's theme' by Sammy Davis Jr.; funky!!
all*that*glitters*
