Personally speaking, and I'm sure many people will agree, the track 'Running Away' is the peak of Roy Ayers disco acheivments. Whilst not an explicit four-on-the-floor track it rocked the Garage and many other discotheques. The extended 12" mix with the rhodes and vibes breaks is sublime. However, Ayers also put out alot of stuff on his own Uno Melodic label that was cool, such as productions of Sylvia Striplin and Ethel Beatty. He has also done a rendition of Fever, which although a lot of people loathe I actually dig. Anyhow, let's talk about Roy.

I really loved the 12" Don't stop the feeling. I know that one was big in the clubs here in the UK along with Running Away and to a lesser extent Sweet Tears.

The stuff he did with Sylvia Striplin and also 80's ladies did good in the UK clubs too, Especially Turned onto you which was more of an 80's mid tempo vibe than full on Disco.

In 1987, Roy Ayers released I'm the the one (for your love tonight)Lp on Columbia. It featured two exceptional ballads "Don't you ever turn away" and "Let me love you" which was a duet with Chandra Currelli.

I also dug Virgin Ubiquity 1 and 2 and tracks from his anthologies at Polydor. I didn't find the Virgin Ubiquity remix project compelling in the least.
