Re: CAROL WILLIAMS is this good?
Came across this old post and I gotta update it...
O!M!G! Is this EVER a great cd! This IS the same Carol Williams as the Salsoul diva you guys were thinking of, except this time she's working with Tony Valor instead of Vince Montana, maybe in 1978.
The music, you ask? If you like meaty/beaty/bouncy disco, with LOADS of strings, percussion, breaks, great female vocals, great timings (3 songs over the 6-minute mark) you NEED this undiscovered treasure.
Think of it as along the same lines as Gloria Gaynor's "Love Tracks" being sung by a funkier Dionne Warwick: ALL tracks, even the 3 or 4-minute ones, are excellent! It also seems this work has Ms Williams' personal touch ALL OVER it: songwritring/vocal arrangements/background vocals/ even her "own" kick-ass rhythm section!-quite an achievement for a black female "disco" singer in those days. Hats off to her!
Too bad this is a Hot Productions, so the sound (especially the last track) is not the best quality (shoulda said "Sorry, NOT from the original Masters!)
Question: was this recording played anywhere BITD? it's not even listed in the Billboard Disco book. So what gives??
