"You Are In Love" by Ralph Macdonald
Picked up a double-album cd from percussionist Ralph Macdonald during Boxing Day 2006 containing "Sound of a Drum" and "Counterpoint" lps from late 70's...unfamiliar with his output, except for "Calypso Breakdown" (from SNF soundtrack) and "The Path" opus...while listening to the new cd I have come across my personal disco discovery of the decade!
"You Are In Love", from "Counterpoint",is a GORGEOUS disco tune: lushly orchestrated instrumental, percolating percussion, sounding like a million dollars was spent in production (sounds like a Hollywood film theme), almost Eurodisco in scope (think "Souvenirs" plus "Love's Theme" plus "Manhattan Melody"); yes, ladies and gentlemen, it's THAT good!!
now the question: was it played/popular anywhere? How come I missed it BITD?? Does anyone else here love it as much as I do?? I don't think there was a 12"- the album version is around 5:30, with no intro and no break...
If you love your disco you're gonna love this one!
we can fly...above the sky...
