Thanks
THANKS!!!! No one I know could tell me!!!!
I'm hardly an expert. And unfortunately I don't know what the one
you're after is, sorry! Sounds like the title could be "get on down" or
"get on up". From the top of my head, I can exclude Roy Ayers, Tyrone
Davis, Roundtree, East Harlem Bus Stop and King Sporty to name a few
that have songs with that title.
Problem is even if that's the title then there are still so many records
with those lyrics. Maybe someone else on here can help?
But I did like the sound of it - if you find out what it is, please post it
here.
No problem. Glad I could help.
The album was produced by bass player George Perry for TK Records in 1977.
It followed as a result of the troubles the band were having with Harold Melvin
and Teddy Pendergrass fighting over the name of the band and so forth. So
the guys from the band when they were at PIR (minus Pendergrass and Melvin)
signed to do an album for TK as The Blue Notes and they brought in old lead
singer John Atkins who had left The Blue Notes back in 1970.
I don't think many copies were ever pressed of the album. It's certainly very rare
to come across today. I've once seen a copy to $ 75 but you should be able to
find it for less. Happy hunting!
I have all the tracks you suggested but as you said it's none of them.
I've tried all combinations of Get On Up Get On Down on Discogs etc.
I've lost count on how many forums I've asked for an ID on this.
I even PM Rahaan himself but he blanked me :-(.
It sounds like something from 77-79 if I had to guess.
The male vocal sounds so familiar. Knowing Rahaan, it's some obscure album cut.
I guess I should be grateful he's still digging up some amazing stuff.

It must be something that Rahaan wants to keep to himself since
he didn't want to tell you.
Thanks for the heads up on those videos. I might have some Rahaan
ID's also. I have some mixes on the computer, but I would have to
listen to them again. So I might hit you up later.
